I have just updated the website with more photos of the work on 115/2691. This is a comprehensive restoration see http://www.joc.org.uk/Interceptor_Mk_1/ ... _876F.html

The detail and amount of work is well worth a look; especially when you compare the photos of when he first got the car and the progress made so far. He said it had to wait in line until his other cars, a private and personal collection were done!!

Wow, fascinating. I think many would have given up seeing the amount of rust on this car.
It surely has found a savior in its new owner. Well done!

I am told that 2020 has been and gone but I haven't been outside to check. But during the last year I had confirmation on 158 cars with 75 of those being recorded as being on the road. I have already heard of another survivor being found in the USA - just waiting confirmation of the actual chassis number before I add it to the list.

in the meantime I have been given some information about 115/3441. I last recorded it in 2015 and the photos I have on the website are from 2013. I dont have a contact name or details for the owner but I received the following information.

I remember the car when it was its original silver and back then it still ran the stainless exhausts and minilite wheels which were originally black spoked polished lip versions. It was owned by a Mr Stanley Mewis and the only time he drove it was on sundays i would hear it coming, the bonnet was added in the mid 80's when stan had my brother paint the car a dove grey colour yes thats correct dove grey, in fact my brother was responsible for both colour changes on it . The bonnet was fitted to aid cooling because stan used to toodle around at about 30 miles an hour . It had always been a poor starting car and i remember that whilst it was stripped for colour change 1 the air cleaner was removed and it coughed back on cranking and burnt the then mechanics fringe off . It is good to see its still out there and i hope this information can get passed on to the current owner

Fred

his next email was

Hi Steve know what you mean the boredom brings out the best in us !! I didnt have an attachment but the one you sent me of the joc was the car i was refering to , carnival red, i did a dvla check on it and it is still taxed and motd till 2021 so its still in use , it mentions in the article that it was bought in 2006 off a guy in ladbroke warwickshire who i believed worked for jaguar landrover which is why it was painted carnival red
And i believe was going to use it for his daily driver (deep deep pockets) he commisioned cloverleaf to paint it and it wss sent to my brother to be done as steve hobbs who ran cloverleaf never did any body work, it was back then a very original car and structually very solid only having very local metalwork repairs carried out, the bonnet as i say was changed mid 80's by the previous keeper and came from a written off blue car and if memory serves me right also the tailgate because i think the heating element didnt work. I should imagine that it has probably been repainted again since then as that must be at least 20 years since its 2nd colour change, just oit of interest the original bonnet sat in the workshop of cloverleaf for years not sure what happened to it as the company has gone now.
Sorry for waffling
Fred

The car is now identified as 115/3117 and is a new survivor. I have added it to the Survivors website with a link on the welcome page. I posted that news on various FaceBook pages and that in turn has turned up another survivor in the USA. I am waiting confirmation and information on that one before I add that to the list.

Pymmie has posted a car for sale in Bristol, looks to being a new find, as not on the list, 115/2618. Quite a bit not right with it,(front having the surprised look is a biggy), but could be a good basis for rolling resto, as it certainly doesn't look like a rust bucket. Closer inspection would be needed, but at £15000, sounds a fair price.

the car was on the list as I was, apparently, told of it's existence in 2014 but got no further info. A page and the photos have now added- see https://www.joc.org.uk/Interceptor_Mk_1/115_2618.html

also a couple of other updates on the Welcome page.

Is this car known to the Mk1 Register? Pictured alongside a Lotus Europa which is for sale.

You can just make out the registration number FYY 66H, a white Jensen Interceptor first registered in November 1969 and taxed until June 2021. Looks like an early Mk2?
