ROSTYLE "FAUXSTYLES"
Hello,
I'm a new member from the US, with a Mark II Interceptor (125311) which I'm trying to bring back from years of neglect. The main feature that drew me to the Mark II was the Rostyle wheel design-- as it reminded me of the Matchbox/Hot Wheels toy cars of my youth. The problem in the States is that proper performance tyres that replicate the dimensions of the originals are basically unavailable. To avoid using a Mark II alloy wheel or one of the newer 17" renditions of the same, I contacted Stockton Wheel in California to see if they could mate the Rostyle centres to a larger wheel. The sizing didn't quite match up, so they suggested a set of custom 16 x 7 wheels based on the Dodge 'Magnum' design, but with a pattern and offset to match Jensen specs. They just arrived today, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they look with the 225/55ZR16 tyres mounted and the Jensen centre caps in place-- and on the car.
Regards, Dave

I can't wait to see them on the car either. Unfortunately we're having to modify the hubs to convert the existing 5 x 5 bolt pattern to a 5 x 4.75 in order to fit these things. Otherwise, all should be good (in theory). In regards to cost, they were $285 US each plus a bit extra for the new lug nuts and rigid valve stems. I'll post progress pictures when available.
Hold on,
But:
Am I reading this correctly?
Great, custom-made wheels.so they suggested a set of custom 16 x 7 wheels based on the Dodge 'Magnum' design, but with a pattern and offset to match Jensen specs.
But:
Umm, so they're not custom-made wheels, and don't actually fit the Jensen application?Unfortunately we're having to modify the hubs to convert the existing 5 x 5 bolt pattern to a 5 x 4.75 in order to fit these things.
Am I reading this correctly?

Custom in regards to specifying the width, diameter, offset, backspacing and finish. Unfortunately the "Magnum 500" hubs are standard regardless-- built to fit Mopar products. My goal was to aesthetically reproduce the Rostyle look with a larger wheel. I initially thought this would be easier, but it's obviously not. This will probably get hairier before it's done-- with potential clearance issues, etc.

Confession - I didn't know what a "5 x 5 bolt pattern" was until I looked it up (my excuse being that it was in US inches, not metric, which I would have understood - 5 x 120 etc)
For anyone else as thick, here's a quick link to explain:

"Now that chassis number is particularly interesting ‘cos it’s the one after the one before, which is the one after mine, not many people know that"

Thank you.
My late Mark II was fitted with the lower compression G-code 383 which wasn't ideal-- plus it had over 100,000 miles on it. I contacted Diamondback Engines, a Mopar specialist in Texas-- who suggested using a 400 CID block (same physical dimensions as the 383) as a base to build a 499 stroker producing 555 horsepower. It's lighter due to the aluminum heads, intake manifold and the Delta Motorsports "shorty" headers replacing the cast iron exhaust manifolds. It's all painted to look stock and the only real cosmetic difference is the flat front facing on the Edelbrock heads. To handle the extra power and torque, I had Cope Racing Transmissions build a CRT ProStreet 727. Everything is in the process of being installed now (hopefully).

Very serious car that will be! It looks awesome on those rims, always loved the idea of Magnum's on the Jensen.
That garage looks like Steve Mcqueens!!
Jensen makes so much sence in the States with all that Mopar skill, Imagine what could be done with my SP!!!
Still can't understand why Jensen's generally seem so under priced in US.
But a lovely car that mk11 is, good effort!
