New member, 75 interceptor convertible

Post by Samdeebee »

Hello,

First registration here to participate at my first meeting in june.

I'm 44, and after almost buying a TVR Griffith over two years ago, I came across an ad for an Interceptor.
Back to my childhood when I played with those trump cards and the Interceptor was a joker, Bingo, that's what I want.

Just enough time to find the right car, a convertible, and I was off on my adventure.

I bought Mike Sweeney's car in April 2022 in Bergerac.
The same day, I drove 700km to bring it to Dijon, to "L'atelier classique" for an initial inspection and to repair a whole series of points (overheating, fuel pump, roof mechanism, etc.).

After 3 months, I was able to drive it back to Brussels (600km). and drive it all summer before storing it in the garage for the winter.
The year 2023 gave me the chance to really enjoy it. Powerful, comfortable, the best!
To kick off 2024, I planned to renovate the soft top, and this brought to light some electrical problems. So everything is now done and I have an even more beautiful, reliable and pleasant car to start the year 2024, ...

... when it stops raining!!!!

So I'm officially the happy driver of a 1975 Jensen Interceptor cabriolet!

Pictures coming soon.

Thanks in advance for the welcome.

Beautiful looking car – it looks a different color in front of the “ancient vehicles” sign!

I’m sure you will have many miles of excitement in it!

The ability to correctly restore an Interceptor hood must be a very rare skill. Do L'Atelier Classiques also have the ability to restore the mechanism (microswitches etc.)?

And did they find any graffiti inside the hood lining - I remember someone found some fifty year old political comments inside a trim panel once!

Thanks. I have always wondered what may lie under my convertible roof.

It breaking is the one thing I worry about, even after 17 years ... Your car looks great, enjoy !

L’Atelier Classiques can surely do all you need, but for the roof, it’ a specialist here in Brussels. And for all the electrical stuff, another specialist (all British cars but Lynx expert!).

A beautiful car and one that seems to be getting the care and attention it needs.
Im sure having driven it you will know what an excellent and vastly undervalued grand tourer these cars are.
