Selling my Interceptor MKII - Phil Fish

Hi all,
With a house move on the horizon and five cars to re-home I have decided to sell my 1969 Interceptor MkII (as Grant rightly says the best model of the Interceptor). The car was purchased by Jason Williams in 2014 (viewtopic.php?p=134467#p134467) and did a great job of sorting a car that had been off the road for close to 20 years. As you will see from Jason's thread (viewtopic.php?p=134467#p134467) he undertook a near complete mechanical refresh of the car including:-

1)|Suspension strip down and rebuild- components powder coated, re-bushed, nuts and bolts zinc plated
2) Engine bay refresh - All components sand blasted and powder coasted or zinc plated
3) 6"Rostyles refurbed
4) Engine bay taken back to red lead primer and then stone chipped and painted satin black. New insulation added
5) Refurbed calipers all round
6) New top ball joints, original lowers re-shimmed and zinc plated
7) Engine refresh with unleaded head
) New Coverdale carpets
9) Trim re-coloured
10) Rear axle refresh
11) Hi- torque fast wind starter motor fitted
12) New battery box
13) Reconditioned fuel tank

Since I bought the car in June 2014 the car has had the following upgrades:-
14) Radiator refurb (4 core)
15) Replaced Otter switch with correct temperature range
16) Replacement fuel pump
17) Correct MkII steering wheel (Thanks Grant)
18) Front light relay upgarde to protect light switch (thanks to Steve Payne)
19) Drivers side exhaust manifold skim and new gaskets (thanks to Steve Payne)
20) Mitsubishi alternator upgrade (thanks to Steve Payne)
21) High Power VW rad fans (thanks to Steve Payne)
22) Drivers door new locking mechanism
23) New hand brake pads (thanks to Steve Payne)
24) New rear calipers (thanks to Steve Payne)
25) New rear disks (thanks to Steve Payne)
26) EBC Greenstuff pads all round
27) Fenn-Air AC upgrade (thanks to Steve Payne)
28) Carter AVS rebuild (Dave Barnett)
29) Interior leather refurb
30) Inner rear hatch painted satin black
31) Front drivers seat leather restoration

As you will see from the above the car is mechanically sorted and on point and the interior only requires a new carpet set. The bodywork was restored in the late 1990's and it starting to show its age and along with moderate chrome is the weakest part of the car. I have included some up to date photos. The car has a full tool kit, jack kit and handbook and has covered 104k miles.

I intend to sell the car at the next Historics Auction (2nd March 2024 at Ascot Racecourse, https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auct ... -mk-ii-dg/) with the hope that the low reserve (£22k) will attract bidders, if not I'll be giving it away!

Sorry to read your selling your MK11 Phil, but good luck with its sale and your forthcoming house move.

You’ve clearly been busy improving the car and pictures of the interior leather look great.

Seems very nice to me at a very reasonable price. The interior has been done very well by the look of it, very inviting. A case study in how much there is to do mechanically to sort these cars out, but it’s all been done. That’s three Interceptors in the auction up the road to look at.

Lovely looking car, with a lot of work done to it over the years too. And also fitted with a pair of S4 door mirrors too (what I would give to have a pair for my convertible)!

Hope that the new owner realises what a well sorted car this is, and you get a well deserved price.

They look a lot like the door mirrors on the Jaguar XJ series 3, and XJS. If so it would not be so hard to find. The mounting plinth might be different.

Hi Dion,

There's a lot more to these S4 door mirrors than I thought - at first, I thought that they were the same as a Jaguar XJS door mirrors (except for the mounting plinth), but I think that there is a subtle difference with the shape, plus the S4 door mirrors had in-built heaters (I think that the later Jaguar XJS mirrors had them, so this may also explain the difference in shape).

I know that the S4 door mirrors were also fitted to the AMV8's in the mid 1980's, and a similar shaped mirror was also fitted to the RR's of the same era, so the research continues!

Dino I have those mirrors on my car. You are right they were an Aston fitted, remote controlled and heated .... very flash.
I needed to get one of the black plastic plates that cover one of the mounting screws a few years back and was able to get it easily thru and Aston dealer in the UK. I can look it up later in the month when back in NZ as they may sell the whole thing. In fact I'm sure they (and others) would given Aston resto's and prices. Regards Julian
