A nice find - 440 badges
I found these badges at an auto-jumble type of flea market / shop in rural New South Wales and felt I had to have them for my man cave

I don't believe they are Mopar related. They do not look familiar.

Did they really have 440 cubic inch motors in them?

Re: A nice find - 440 badges
Don't quote me, but I believe the 440 was a "trim" level and only had a 1.6L engine....
I'm pretty sure some early Dodge Coronts had a 440 trim level too but had the 318 power house

Re: A nice find - 440 badges
They most certainly did not !!
It was as Fat Roofer said, a level of trim, apparently quite a smart level of trim by the standards of the day.

Re: A nice find - 440 badges
Some amazing South African versions of cars! I remember the first time I saw a "Cortina 4L" in Australia and thought "surely not a 4Litre?" It wasn't, it was a four cylinder!

Ah yes, but as well as the Cortina 4L, Ford Australia also made the Cortina 6L. Which had a 4.1 litre straight six engine from the standard Ford Falcon of the time.

Re: A nice find - 440 badges
I realise there was also a 6L but sadly I’ve only ever seen the Cortina 4L on the road.

Re: A nice find - 440 badges
I've got a 240 badge somewhere too, and I've seen an Australian workshop manual for the Cortina MK2 220,240 &440, so looks like those were the basic versions, but what do these badges actually mean? I presume the GT, 1600e and Lotus were all available in Oz.
The MK2 was only available with 1300cc, 1500cc (early models only) and 1600cc, plus the Lotus twin cam, I doubt the cars structure could handle the weight of a 440 CI
