That’s odd ?

Only a few weeks ago Paul removed it from Cropredy and instructed Dave Pearce at Oily Rag Classics to advertise it on commission.

Think it was up for around £92k

Surely not a good time to sell via online auction

Nice to see it has a beautiful original Jensen trimmed interior and an original steering wheel. So easy as a buyer to add your steering wheel of choice and move it from car to car and no one can complain about a perfect original one where it should be when you decide to sell.

t is a better time to buy a Jensen at the moment! The good thing about a quality car with solid bodywork is that you will always get a decent wodge of cash back for it in turbulent market conditions if you need to move it on quickly, to leverage another purchase, etc. Granted you won't get as much selling right now, but you might save so much more on what you are able to do with the cash at this moment. Property prices in some EU countries is taking a beating for example.

Nice though it may be, I can't help thinking the valuation letter smacks a little of "marking your own homework".

It is not great to see a thorough restoration resulting in a big financial hit on resale but let's hope that the current owner has got that value back from his ownership.

Peter,

I believe the valuation is for insurance purposes only.

A Mk3 Interceptor in my neck of the woods also got a similar valuation

I’m awaiting a guy from Holland to look at my car. I’m hoping I can sell mine as I want another SP. Until mine sells I can’t buy but I would definitely be interested in this car IF I can move mine on. Im sure mine will sell but as as with any car I’ve just got to be patient. Fingers crossed👍

This is without any doubt the finest specimen currently on the market- A car I knew, a wonderful original car, but needed some serious help as you know,A fantastic canvas, Bought by a man that had the love to do it and restored by a very serious man, Dave. a massive credit and commitment by both.
This is properly restored in the true sense, nuts and bolts.

I would own in a heart beat- all I would do is bung on the 15" dove grey's.

Not many Jensen's are lucky to find themselves restored as such- shame that is. I hope it finds a loving owner, a proper person that dials in.

If you are set on an SP, fully done properly, this is the one.

I was thinking exactly the same Tim, even, especially down to the 15" dove grey's. Someone pointed out to me that the larger callipers and discs would need downsizing to original to take 15"s. The original brakes are fantastic when properly serviced. It would be interesting to compare this setup with standard in the best shape, with best rubber in classic profile 15"s using digital accelerometers, timing systems, etc. Would choosing the older brakes make you more cautious and as safe or safer than the newer ones? Some dove grey paint would be a very simple alternative.

Hi Tim and John,
I think the issue is the grey wheels. WWB runs on 17 inch wheels and looks much better. The dark moody look does not work well.
Dark grey centres work well with the tangerine body.
I attach a few pics from the 2022 international.

The Fosseyway brakes work well but the major issue is the weight and width of the tyres - best stoping car I have ever had was a series 11 Elise pick your braking point and halve it.

Hope it makes decent coin as Tim would say!

For me 15“ with black paint do the trick on my SP.

Sorry to say the Red and orange SP's beat the blue SP hands down. The Blue SP just looks a but restomod. Which some would like. The wheels definately need a trip to a wheel secialist for diamond cut.

The SP is definately TOP OF THE RANGE, so Jensen really did a fabulous job and now these SP's are showing their worth and beauty.

To be honest even a scruffy SP is beautiful

It is just such a shame a Jensen SP is not up there with an ISO GRIFO, way above the average Aston martin of the era.

As this thread is about the blue SP, I hope the seller finds a buyer who will appreciate both the rarity and performance of the car and the fastidious and comprehensive work carried out by Dave Pearce at Oilyrag Classics.

The size and colour of the alloys will depend on your personal taste and are easily resolved - and certainly shouldn’t be a deal breaker for any serious buyer.

Good luck with the sale.

Interesting how the classic car price guides do not make much of a distinction between the prices of an Int3 and the SP. Concours SP examples at £55k according to ClassicCars magazine and yet £79k according to Hagerty UK valuation tool. Maybe if this sale is successful the numbers may be updated? Someone might advise them of the demise of Duncan Clarke's Jensen Club as well?
