Interceptors coming soon to Bonhams online auction

Post by Peter Rothery »

Seen before elsewhere and presumably not sold, both from the same vendor....

That's a weird looking front bumper / valance / indicator set up on the blue one.

Agreed they look stupid. I would be equally stressed about the comment "Freshly repainted in May 2023 by Berkshire Body Shop following a few repairs to the body, the Interceptor’s fresh paint was then machine-polished and detailed by GP Customs to bring out the very best shine possible.

The bills came to well over £17,000 in total but it was worth every penny because it looks spectacular."

If the paint has bubbled up like this in only 6 months it doesn't bode well for the new owner.

But with 5 hours to go, and it being a NO reserve auction, and the price so far is only £12,250, no doubt one or two more bidders may come along !

How odd , I had a quick look as it ended and took a screenshot.

How can bids go up after they say it’s ended ?

Also bids went from 46 to 79 ?

We were bidding and saw all the bids come in on our screen.
We were done at just over £20K, but watched it go all the way up. At least we got our bid in which was not easy. We had problems as despite being registered with Bonhams already this new website needed another registration process on top.

Congratulations lucky bidder Spike!

A lucky escape JohnW.

I can't see that this disaster is anything but a money pit with both mechanical and bodywork issues that could see it costing another £10k minimum to sort out properly. Maybe someone can shed a more positive light on it as I must be missing something.

there are some blemishes to the nearside front edge of the bonnet, and the panel at the base of the windscreen on the offside.
Some of the chromework is a little pitted too, and there’s some rust bleeding from the chrome trim on the tailgate.
you might like to turn your attention to the boot at some point as it lags a little behind the rest of the interior thanks to well-worn carpets.
As for actual faults, the rev counter doesn’t work.
we can see the new owner will probably want to tidy the engine up a little while they’re investigating the couple of faults it has.
The exhaust is blowing due to the need for a new gasket.
We also note the engine is burning oil and the engine is making some noises it shouldn’t
The Interceptor doesn’t have a current MoT certificate

I stopped at £20,000, which was my max max on this one, probably it was tarted up a bit for Bonhams - but I am happy that mediocre condition cars are reaching north of £27k I guess :-)

Who is spike uk I wonder ? ?

Hopefully not for Spike's sake. I figured it was +£5k for a 383. An early 440 would have been nice too. There were a few red flags popping up in my mind. I haven't seen the car, I dislike fast wind starters, and I have no idea what the sills are like, have they been properly repaired or do they need doing? Also burning oil and "the engine making some noises it shouldn't", well we do have an engine hoist.

Hi is this red or a strange shade of tangerine
Also is it in it original colour scheme thanks
I do have a 65 mustang fastback for sale that I would be willing to swap/trade with a nice interceptor if anyone fancies a change of direction 😉

Was originally Havana brown. Could now be any shade of red/orange. Needs paint and bodywork so you could have it any colour you fancy.
