SP 3FMM 1314505

Post by jsngold »

I’m trying to find out some more history about the above SP which l purchased in 2018.
From the Factory records it was initially bought by Associated British Cement for Sir John Riess it’s chairman.
First registered JYR 90k or JEA 940k ( both on factory documents)
The next information I have is an invoice from Jensen Cars dated 1989 that it was owned by Paul Chapman from Solihull and he was in possibly in the JOC as he was given
5% JOC discount on a 5k engine rebuild. At some point the car was re registered 3FMM . Lastly the previous owner stated that a member of Pink Floyd had owned the car but I have found nothing to substantiate this.
Thanks in advance

If this car was from Vince then it might have been a bit of Imagination of his?

Only things, which you will probably have was that it was a white car with the black roof and black interior which was standard. Ex factory on 22/02/72.

Last record in the Genome was off the road in 2014

Yes it was bought from Vince with. Ex Pink Floyd crayoned across the bonnet! I have the build sheets stating it was white originally, but was gold when I bought it.

Good evening Charlie,

Hope you are well. JEA 940K was the SP before yours chassis number 131/4504. Suspect filing error by factory of paperwork for 131/4504 in your car file (131/4505). How is the restoration going? I have traced well over 100 SP's now.

Best as always,

John

Good morning John
All good thanks. That’s very helpful, I want to try and return the car to its original reg which I’d prefer, plus I’ve a potential buyer for the private plate which will help fund the next stage of the restoration. After much recent deliberation the shell has just been painted in cerise and the refurbished suspension is ready to fit.
That’s a fair survival rate, I’ve recently bought a nice set of carbs and air cleaner lid, just looking for a base now.
Best wishes
Charlie

Will you be changing your Forum name to jsncerise?

You need to make a V765 application which I, on behalf of the JOC, will endorse. A vehicle inspection by a JOC representative will be needed. You can find the details on the government website in document V765/1. The original number can only be re-assigned it a) it is still available and b) it has not previously been part of a cherished transfer. You should be able to phone the DVLA and they will tell you if it is available. There is no fee for the V765 application.

Thanks Chris,
I presume the inspection will be on the same lines as the one Stuart kindly carried out on the FF to reinstate it’s original reg? It was lost when the car was exported in the eighties.

Happy to carry out the SP inspection on behalf of the club Charlie / Chris if it’s before the end of December.

Cheers.

Yes, exactly the same process. I'd forgotten about the FF.

Hi Charlie, just curious, are you going to get your wipers to park correctly on this? Only joking, good luck with the resto.

Hi Kev
Thanks for asking 😆
As you know I’ve had a serious wiper complex since Turin, the Mk1 is still manual parking. I’ve rebuilt the FF wiper motor but it still isn’t parking! The contacts were very poor. I think I might have better luck with the later motor on the SP
Cheers
