Derek Chapman's old car. Restoration well documented in joc media I believe. Now with dealer in Hampshire.

Despite the fastidious restoration, it’s a pity it didn’t stretch to the straightening of the front bumper. I imagine it’s a near impossible task while retaining the other contours of the bumper?

The photos for the auction, at least to my eyes, make the colour and condition look superior to those in the sales ad:

However, the one area the sales ad exceeds the auction photos is that the front bumper looks less out of shape. Perhaps the less than perfect shape is the result of over-editing of the photos for the auction?

Yes I agree the bumper looks much better in the sales ad. The colour in the sales ad looks more like Botticelli Blue whereas the auction ad colour doesn’t look quite right.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Until Peter mentioned it, I wasn't aware it was up for sale as well as in the auction.

Car & Classic, and the dealers on it, seem to be using the sale, with simultaneous auction, route more and more.

Amusingly, as has been noted on other sales threads, cars seem to sell at auction, only to reappear for sale at the same dealer. Generally the excuse is non-paying buyer but perhaps cohorts bidding the auction up, only to find they have pushed it past the genuine buyers, is another explanation.

A bit of a drop from the original £69,500 advertised price.

A positive enough write-up with the usual journalistic cliches. It seems an appealing car. But its been on the market for at least a year and no-one wants to pay £70 grand. Similarly the other CV8s on the market for this or even more. It went to £47.5k at auction and I guess around £50-55K is where it should be currently.
