C-V8 Brochure in German (Monteverdi)

Post by felixkk »

Somebody I had met a few weeks ago (on the road) found a C-V8 brochure in German at a stand, bought it and sent it to us. I don't think I've come across one before.

An interesting find and the car presents well in whatever colour it is.
I've never seen a boot stay on a C-V8.
Was that usual on Mk1 cars?

I have never seen this brochure before so an interesting find.

Mk1 and Mk11 C-V8s have props for the boot lid, a rectangular section prop, not round section as the bonnet prop on all C-V8s.

I just noticed that the console/storage box between the seats in the brochure picture is crooked and tilted. Mine is crooked and tilted too. I always thought that was a fault in my car, but I guess it's a feature!

I had one of those in the past and sold it over 20 years ago to Richard Calver.

These are not the only Jensen brochures in German. There are also Jensen-Healey brochures in German (and French and Japanese). I do not know about the Interceptor/FF but there are probably German and French brochures for those Jensens as well.

Strange to see a LHD car (only a hand full made) with a UK registration.

701 KEA (JM/EXP/107) was a LHD prototype and retained by JML for a couple of years before it was converted to RHD for eventual sale in the UK.

A few years before I bought my first CV8, I saw 701 KEA being driven on the road near New Milton in the mid 1980s still in its original colour, while going to Downton Service Station a few miles further on that sometimes stocked CV8s. I recognised it from the English version of the brochure I had. It was the first CV8 I saw actually being driven on the road although a few were parked in roads near where I lived in Putney at the time. The going rate for a good one was around £3.000, or £4.000 in a dealer, those were the days.

We have two brochures (not counting the one Andi has and never mentioned  ). If the owner of the car would like a copy, he'd be welcome to have one. They must have been in quite a rush to get the brochure printed for the Geneva Salon, not having the time to have someone proof read it.

I’ll give Sue a call as she’s only a few miles away on the moors.

Great piece of memorabilia..
