Post by Pymmie »

There are 4-5 adverts on EBay for various parts of a fire damaged Mk3

I believe it’s BTU216M

This was the Chuckle Brothers car that went to Turin in 2016.

Synetiq are breaking the car - lots of parts available - they are a very well known breaker based in Winsford

They clearly do not know exactly what they have or what a sensible price might be.

The "fog light" aka side and indicator is only £34.80 +VAT brand new from Martin Robey...even cheaper from some MG suppliers...although the quality of the chrome surround is questionable from some outlets.

Most likely what is happening here is the vehicle dismantler has an agreement with the insurance underwriters to return to them a certain percentage of the write off value regardless of the settlement amount and is now trying to recover it's money. We saw something similar a while back with Douglas Valley Breakers and another fire damaged Interceptor with high prices for parts. We will see parts on sale for a long time to come.

Strange that they have only ever advertised just over a dozen parts in the last few months. One wonders what has happened to some of the big ticket more desirable parts like the rear hatch, roof panel, engine and transmission etc.

They have 25 items listed now, maybe it takes them a long time to get around to listing them all, I have sent them a few emails, and they
are receptive to offers on anything they still have for sale :-)

Ive asked aobut some bits (boot interior panels etc) and they are unwilling to remove them which was a really odd message as the damage was all in the front
