74/75 INTERCEPTOR FOR SALE ON EBAY COMMENTS PLEASE?

Hi Guys,

Good morning from Los Angeles!

There is this a 1975 Interceptor for sale on eBay in Maryland,
with a starting bid of $5000, which I am interested in buying.

The ad states that this is a 1975 but on closer inspection the plate
on the car is stamped 11/ 74 which is fine, sold in 75.

But on closer inspection, it looks like there is another number stamped underneath the
11/74 ?

Does anyone have the history of car number 2211-1281 I thought that the late 74/75 all had a wooden dash.

I already have a 1974 wooden dash car that needs total restoration number 2211 1565, see the 3 photos.

Any comments ??

Having trouble in Firefox. Put 1281in the search box in the upper right hand corner and you will get a previous listing.

Looks pretty good underneath and in the engine bay. Would have liked to see pictures of the fenders (one of the "bad points"). No mention of the rear and side windows and chrome although the car "is complete".
Depending on how bad the wings are, a good buy if you can get it for 5K I would think.

According to Richard Calvers Jensen Chassis Data book the numbers on the plate are correct. The plate is from a car completed on 11/74. Original body colour: Royal Blue. Interior: Beige. Engine: 4C13067. Options: Coach line blue. USA destined. It may not be the original plate though. One has to check with the number stamped somewhere in the chassis, front cross member?
Also the "1" used in the date looks to be of a slightly different type than the "1" used in in the chassis number.

Possibly stamped by a different person at a different time with a different set of stamps?

Hi Steven,
the vinyl dash is definitely correct for build date Nov 74. I guess the change from vinyl to wood dash happened about some 15/20 cars later than my 2211-1490 made in Dec 74.

I don't know, but I feel there is something not quite right here!!

I cannot find the Hemmings ad from 2017 on the website but I will look elsewhere.
