1967 Paris Motorshow - leads wanted

Post by Terdu »

Hi all, jensen lovers in france.

I wanted to ask for some advice or direction, in my quest to uncover more information about my car.
I've seen two pictures of the 1967 Paris Motorshow, where two early Sincar (Vignale Left Hand Drive) vehicles were put on display.
From the records, it seems that one of these two vehicles might be my restoration object (Sincar 117/2592) but would love more information and/or pictures of that show.

So: apart from the below images, what options should I explore.. are there French car historians I should talk to? Any literature archives I could browse through? magazines from those years I should find?

Any help is appreciated,

Jasper

Found a Vignale built LHD MK1 in South Africa, Sincar #15, chassis 117/2592.
On a long and winding road to restore it back to original condition.

Hi Jasper

Have you tried contacting Tony Marshall or Ulric Woodhams? I'll PM their mail addresses. Unfortunately I don't have any further info...

Best regards, Felix

Tony Marshall wrote: "when I took the job of Export Sales Manager in 1968 I inherited two European distributors, appointed by Sincar who had been given the European rights by Vignale/Jensen, namely Behermoen Demoen in Brussels and France Motors in Paris"

"France Motors were appointed by Sincar originally and I looked after them once Sincar had been dismissed in about March 1968. Despite other posts on this forum, France Motors did have Interceptors registered with the Dept des Mines, but possibly under a low volume arrangement. France Motors took 9 Mk1 Interceptors but only 2 Mk11s. I think they finished in 1971, due mainly to the illness of the proprietor, M Charles Ladouch, a truly wonderful character of whom, I have some very pleasant, and humorous, memories!"

Maybe those archives still exist?

thanks Shaun, that would be helpful. I'm reaching out to the people mentioned above too. (Ulrich I already had)
I've tried to get in touch with the Brussel dealership that sold my car initially (Brussel, Beherman) but have not had any luck. Jacque hasn't replied yet :)

A seller on Ebay has quite a number of pictures from European Motor Shows, it might be worth contacting him. He seems to have the negatives.
