International Weekend 2023

Post by Stuartjensen »

International Weekend 2023

I am delighted that we have been able to secure the Telford Hotel & Golf Resort for our flagship event for the weekend 23-25 June 2023.
The hotel enjoys a truly enviable location, overlooking the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge, nestled amid acres of gorgeous Severn Valley countryside. For our event:

• Exclusive use of a large, flat tarmacked car park with water supply to accommodate our concours competition.
• A selection of double, twin and family rooms, interconnected and accessible rooms and even dog friendly rooms (at a small supplement)
• Use of the Gym and swimming pool.
• Free WiFi throughout.
• Well appointed conference suite (in a converted 17th Century barn to accommodate the Friday buffet dinner, the Saturday gala dinner dance and the Prize giving on Sunday.

The famous Iron Bridge may be reached via a pleasant country walk directly from the hotel, other attractions in the Severn Gorge very close to the venue are Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, Darby Houses, Enginuity, Museum of the George, Broseley Pipeworks, Jackfield Tile Museum, Tar Tunnel, Coalport China Museum and Blists Hill Victorian Town.

For those interested the attached golf course was inspired by the home of the US Masters. featuring the championship-standard 18-holes – now laid out with three difficulty variants, so there’s always a new challenge on these immaculately maintained fairways.

Also on site is the extensive spa with all sorts of treatments, both the spa and golf course are available at supplementary cost and booking is advised.
Booking is open now via the club website or directly via this hotlink: https://forms.gle/xQWgGycKxtSxCuYq7.

Every year we have had some members contacting us shortly before the event asking if we can accommodate them; whilst we will always try to help we have had to disappoint some as the hotel has been full. Appreciating that not all will wish to pay upfront for an event so far in the future you are able to secure a place by paying a deposit at this stage, full details on the booking page on the website.

Outline program:

Friday: Buffet style meal to welcome all. Bar open!
Saturday: Breakfast in the hotel, planned drive or visits to the many attraction of the Severn Gorge, Dinner Dance (we are planning something a little different this year).
Sunday: Dusters down at 10am as judging the Concours starts, lunch as a BBQ or buffet before the prize giving at 3pm.

We are really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible after the trials and restriction of the past few years.

Stuart & Gill

Hi Colin, sorry for the delay in reply, my dayjob got in the way!

No, the decision taken 2 years ago not to have the AGM at the International Weeked still applies.

Heads up - Stuart has done a Stirling job at negotiating reduced rates at the venue. He will update you in due course but I thought it prudent to let you know that the booking form has been amended to reflect the revised figures. All bookings thus far and new will be honoured at the revised rates.

Kindly regards,
Karan

Yes its true !

We have to arrange the International Weekend well in advance due to the number of rooms needed and our other requirements, not least a carpark for the Concours.

As some of the worst forecasts regarding energy process and staff costs have not come to fruition, the hospitality sector has begun to discount. We have therefore been able to re-negotiate with the hotel. As a result:
  • The full weekend in twin or double room for will now cost £455

The full weekend in a single room for will now cost £380.50

There is now no charge for dogs but if you are bringing a four legged friend please let us know so that we can ensure the appropriate room is allocated.
There are similar reductions for other options, please see the booking form at https://forms.gle/xQWgGycKxtSxCuYq7

To all of you who have already booked (thank you!), the new charges will apply. If you paid a deposit then you will be charged the new balance; if you paid in full we will ensure you are refunded the difference.

We are looking forward to seeing you in June!

Thanks Stuart.

Luke and I stayed here on our way back from picking my Saab 900 Convertible up from the Wirral (yes, the one parked in the corner in disgrace last year :-( ) , nice hotel.

Really looking forward to it and nice for something to be cheaper than expected for once :-) More money I can spend on the C-V8 :-)

...not to be confused with your C-V8 at Brooklands, which was parked in the corner in disgrace last year.
I'm seeing a pattern.

Just one of the many things done behind the scenes that most of the members don't usually see.
