Awareness - Top Gear

Post by KaranMK2 »

Just for info-awareness. Nic was approached by a Top Gear researcher/producer with two days notice (over a weekend) to see if we could provide a car for a line up of iconic 70’s cars. They felt that the interceptor had to be included. A well known member of the club and car was available. Should be in an episode of Top Gear in February.

Regards,
Karan

Well caught.

And of course they need an FF as well they just didn't know it! Ideally a Ginger Baker look alike driving doing donuts, all 4 tyres a smokin'.

Brilliant that the club was able to respond at such short notice. It would be good to have someone with a stock looking SP on a six pack on hand in case anyone mentions acceleration.

Do people still watch Top Gear. Never the same, but will look out for this episode but unable to watch when aired.
Only working half a day now.

that's great, no such thing as bad press, right?
Do you know if it was a cameo, or something a bit more substantial?
Found a Vignale built LHD MK1 in South Africa, Sincar #15, chassis 117/2592.
On a long and winding road to restore it back to original condition.

Same here I have not seen Top Gear since Sabine was on the new format at the start. She was great all the other presenters were like cardboard cutouts.

I don't see how they could forget Jensen until the last minute. They must have been planning this for months. Checking the best TG back episodes. The Interceptors https://youtu.be/qLp4FhDAfQk Check, yes we have a Reliant Scimitar. 🙈

At least they got their finger out and gave us a chance. Brilliant that someone stepped up!

In a film, a cameo is a small walk-on part by someone famous, who doesn't feature in the rest of the movie.

Great news, well done to all involved in responding so swiftly.
Though it's still very silly, I do enjoy TG and am enjoying the current series - with this news, I'm already looking forward to the next :)

Hi, they actually had a Jensen for the filming of 70’s iconic cars but the car became unavailable. No dynamic driving, just a short tasteful shoot of great cars. I am more interested in seeing our club member in the studio audience - cameo role perhaps?

By the way as publicity is mentioned, there will be a 1/2 page article in the Christmas issue of practical classic covering our participation at the NEC and JOC awards to apprentices on the main stage.

And, your ideas / thoughts for the restoration show next year would be most welcomed.

Whilst I don't habitually watch it, I just happened to watch one episode fairly recently.
The one that I encourage you and everyone to watch, if it's available on catch-up, is one from 2021 starring former motorcycle stunt ace, Eddie Kidd.
It brought many viewers to tears. The best Top Gear ever IMHO.

I'll second that Martin.
Properly moving viewing.

Hopefully, this link works.
