Remedial work at the trimmers now finished, and the car's being transported back tomorrow to Chris Marsh Classics for completion. A few (potentially) annoying items on the snagging list, all advice most welcome:
1. The (supposedly) refurbished ammeter has stopped working. Does anyone have one (in need of refurbishment or working) for sale?
2. The steering column chrome spring / volute supplied by Robey's (Jensen part CT749) is too narrow to fit properly. I can get the original one rechromed but does anyone know an alternative source of the correct-sized spring?
3. The leading edge of the tailgate parcel shelf apparently slots into an aluminium strip (which has gone missing from my car at some stage) and is secured by 4 nuts currently unavailable at the usual suppliers. Does anyone have any spare ones going, or know the correct dimensions so I can broaden the search?

I think you'll find the chrome spring behind the steering wheel is Jag XK150 Nigel, if you can be bothered to go through Joerg's posts he posted up which Jag they were from once..I bought a couple at the time for my cars but never fitted them, they're in the NOS Cupboard, I've been to check for you to see if they had a part number, but me being me I have re-packaged them so no joy there..Maybe Robeys being Jag spares too have got something muddled up with them all and now you've got one that doesn't fit from another Jag maybe

Thanks for the positive comments, makes all the effort (and expense) seem worthwhile!
Next question - is this amount of misalignment (particularly in the passenger side) between the door top and rear quarterlight chrome trims normal? I can’t see how you could adjust the door to trim inwards, as it’s fastened to the vertical flange on top of the door?

What's it like at the other end of the door Nigel?..It didn't look really correct to me, but they aren't all the same these cars anyway are they, so I went and looked at mine anyway, mine is flush with the door edges either end, so I did wonder if yours was over hanging the other end?..Has it had the doors replaced, or new door skins maybe?..But even then it wouldn't add up as if the original door skins/doors were not as wide then it would of has huge door gaps ..Are the Stainless trims original to that car?..meaning were they short when you too it apart?..I doubt you may have noticed,

Looking very nice Nigel, as Grant mentioned the fit may not have been great from the factory. I always take as many photos as I can before dismantling so you can check the original fit.
I did notice though that there is no seal under the boomerang trims on the rear side windows, the edge of the trim can be fairly sharp so watch it doesn't dig into the paintwork.

Thanks for your swift response Grant (as always). To clarify, what I meant was should there be a gap between the two yellow lines I've added to the image below, or should the outside edge of the door top chrome trim run seamlessly into the outer edge of the chrome trim beneath the quarterlight? Looking at your second photo, it looks the same as mine so I'm happy!
I agree 100% re pre-dismantling photos Dave, and I have plenty of these from my period of ownership of the car. Unfortunately those trims would have been removed during the bodywork restoration, which was done by Colin Holley years before I bought the car.

First proper drive today. A 160 mile round trip from Chippenham to Petersfield for a pub lunch with an old mate. Definitely a portent of times to come!
The car behaved almost perfectly, a couple of very minor niggles but nothing to take the shine off 3 years of hard work by Chris Marsh Classics, Riverbourne Classics, and Paul Lewis. I am one happy bunny. Thanks all!
PS is it just me or do Interceptors feel faster when the stereo is playing Pink Floyd?
