My New Interceptor - '72 Mk 111, 133-5597
Re: My new Interceptor - '72 Mk 111, 133-5597
Here's a picture of the forward muffler hangar access hole.... I am still stunned by that fact that this access plug is here.
Here's a picture of my new soft hose installed. Just finished bleeding the rear brakes..
Driver's tailpipe perfectly aligned.

Won't that "perfectly aligned tailpipe" beat out a tattoo on the bodywork every time you rev the engine?

It just might, but I now have multiple adjustment points throughout the chain. It may be that I have to move it downwards a little. Maybe I should take a look at some other Mk 111 cars to see how they have the pipe positioned.
If anyone has a picture of the typical set-up, I would be interested in seeing it.

A few more pictures in case anyone is interested.
Here are the rear hangars attachment points under the lower trunk block-off panel. If your car has sat for a while, take the shop-vac to the pockets on the right and left sides. I found a lot of dried up acorn shells in there - I think it's a good place for mice to live.
Here's a couple of pictures of the rear seat pad location and construction (mine, anyway).

Re: My new Interceptor - '72 Mk 111, 133-5597
When I removed my gas tank, I found that the filler hose was squished, because the PO had tried to make the run with a straight piece of 1 3/4" Gates Green stripe hose.
So I had a metal tube fabbed up with a nice bend in it.
Hopefully this, with judicious positioning and alignment, will ease my gas-fill process, and prevent the pump nozzle from automatically clicking off all the time before the tank is filled.

Here's some gas tank sender information....
Sender: Smiths TBS5214/009
I attempted to get resistance measurements, but was unable. I measured 30K Ohms with the sender in the empty position. Everything else read infinity on all my meter scales. It was bizarre.
Pictures....
PS - I added the fuel sock - it's a generic one I got from the parts store. It actually touches the bottom of the tank...

I decided to replace the stock wolverine pelts on top of my fuel tank with gasoline resistant neoprene foam.
I think this will last better, and do as good a job with vibration dampening.
Tank goes up this evening.

Thanks, all -
I appreciate the encouragement.
Cannonball - It sure was. Here's a picture from 2000 of the POs father stripping off the tangerine color. It would be nice to take it back to original, but too much work at this point.

In case you poor Europeans have forgotten what good weather looks like...
This post gives you (caveat: the European Crew Only) the right to make fun of me, when the weather here in Arizona is 112*F (44*C), and it becomes too blistering hot to take the car out of the garage, or even to work on the car in the garage...
