This is Terry Coggins' 541
Both photos taken at Queens Square, Bristol, in 2011 by Rich Eason see
here for more of Rich's photos
The photos above were taken before Terry fitted wire wheels, the wheels are actually powder coated in a chrome like finish.
Terry bought his first 541, a restoration project, back in about 2004, however he had been driving neighbour Malcolm Webb's red 541 since 2002.
Malcolm bought XKN541 back in 1997 and had a lot of mechanical work done by Paul Bolton, including an engine / gearbox / overdrive rebuild and overhauled the suspension and steering. The car had been rebuilt in the 80s at which time 541R type disk brakes with 4 pot callipers were fitted.
After Malcolm died Terry bought the car and has used it extensively since.
This is Terry at the local Wessex meet on Sunday, Terry is the area rep.
We had an urgent request from Heritage Insurance for a car for their stand at the Bristol Show, in the end they only had room for one car on the the stand it wasn't needed, the show organisers had an exhibitor cancel at short notice who was going to be next to our stand so Terry ended up on a stand on his own
Terry's first 541 is an early car, chassis number 16. Terry bought the car as a restoration project from Malcolm Bristow, the car having been off the road since 1983. The car is now coming towards the end of a very long term restoration. Thanks to the club Terry's first 541 now has it's original plate of RGW853 again.
Terry will let me have some photos of RGW853 to share later.
