Just bought my first Jensen, Mk1 115/3067, had to do a 1400 round trip to Angouleme in France to collect it. Did it in 2 days with my trusty Range Rover not missing a beat.
Car needs the interior finishing, as last owner started it , but ran out of time before me collecting it. Sometime in the past, somebody had painted the interior with white two pack paint, but now it is being put back to burgandy, after stripping the white off. Only the passenger seat and door card left to do. Will post some photos later on of the interior.

Bodywork is tidy, it looks like an older restoration, which is now showing through in some areas, all said, it is still very presentable, but some of the chrome lets it down, but it was not a £40k car!!

I have just been to cast an admiring glance over Kevin's Mk I. I am posting this to induce him to post pictures of the two small plates affixed to his rocker covers.

This is what Paul was on about, a plate on each of the rocker covers, giving a bit more info on the engine.
LH cover. RH cover This reads "All bearings and pistons in this power unit are plus +20 thou oversize" as it is partially obscured by the fuel pipe.

One of the interior. Does any body know the mechanical engineer, D Forster from Lowestoft, as he obviously took a pride in his work.

Have started getting the interior up to scratch, have removed the passenger door frame to replace the seals, and to also remove the scratches on the glass with a polishing kit. I don't know how successful this will be, but it can only improve the look of the glass, even if it doesn't remove all the scratches.
I've removed the centre console to refurb the wood, and repaint the crackle finish. During this process I will try to repair the clock, which has a burnt out coil, and replace the ammeter with the correct one.

Wood veneer stripped off, and replaced, now with the first of many coats of varnish, I feel this will be a long job, as 4 hours between the coats of "quick drying" varnish!! Will post more when pieces are ready to go back in.

Veneer is now very shiny, spent weeks applying gloss varnish, but wasn't happy with the finish, you could still see brush marks. It's clear now that modern varnishes are crap, water based so noboby can die from the fumes, but this makes it useless. Tried to polish the surface after approx 10 coats, only for them all to come off onto the polishing rag.
So rubbed the panels back down to the wood, then gave them several coats of clear lacquer I had lying around the garage, and ended up with a fantastic result, in a much shorter time. Have polished up with T-cut and am very pleased with the result.

All I've got to do is fit them back in and sort the wiring out. Am still painting the crackle finish items, and hope to get those sorted this week.

Centre console all back together now, just waiting for the passenger seat to return from the upholsterers, and the Jensen will be a nice place to sit again.

Passenger door now has all new seals, and looks good, just the driver's door to reseal. Whilst I'd got the passenger door in pieces, I drilled 4 drainage holes in it, and coated the whole inside with old engine oil, so it will not rust. I've always used oil for this, as it is thin enough to creep into seams, where thicker anti rust treatments can't get. The only down side is it does tend to drip for a few days after.
A vast improvement to what it was like.
