Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it to the 541 60th as we have a family wedding to attend, though we might possibly be able to make it to Gaydon on the Sunday. I was going to ask you about that base plate you have….. so if you could bring it with you, I'd very much appreciate that. I'm sure someone can look after it for me until I can collect it if we don't make it to Gaydon?

Many thanks Joerg!

Best regards,

Derek

Gradually getting the ancillaries fitted to the P66 engine. Yesterday afternoon, I ordered a new Edelbrock 1405 (600 cfm manual choke) carburettor from "Topspeed"…… so imagine my amazement when it arrived by DPD courier at 9 o'clock this morning!!! That's what I call service!! So, todays job was getting it fitted, along with the fuel pipework and filter and throttle linkage etc. Tomorrow I'll be starting on the remote oil filter canister which is ready for painting.

Also, for anyone interested, I have started to put together a website about this unique car. Here is the URL:-

http://www.jensenp66.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've only just started with it, so a long way to go to make it presentable, but big thanks to Steve (RAP 72) for helping me to get started!

The braiding looks fantastic - was that an Autosparks service?

As regards the new site: very nice indeed. You will still need to work on the "Email me" button, and the "Subscribe" links are definitely not working right, but otherwise it's a wonderful advert for the marque and the P66.

Yes, the braiding was done by Autosparks and I specifically requested the "fleck" in the pattern which I think is more in keeping with the era.

The "e-mail" buttons should be working ok now……. but don't ask me how I get rid of those b***** "subscribe" buttons!! I've tried, but no success yet….. will keep trying!

The program I'm using is new to me….. so bear with me…. I'm an amateur at this web design lark! I just thought it would be interesting to publish some information on the car…..

That's incredibly cheap Joerg! Mine was £105 for braiding the front harness (engine bay) only!!

I was sure that they made a mistake and asked twice if that is correct - the answer was yes, but I guess it was only post & package.

Had a very interesting chat to Eric Neale's son at Gaydon today. He recall's the first (convertible) P66 being built at the factory and, in particular, that instead of the instruments being fitted, a round mirror was fitted in each instrument orifice. If the driver could sit in the seat and see their own reflection in each mirror, then this confirmed that the angle of each instrument orifice was correct. What great thinking!! I had noted during the rebuild of the dashboard on the P66 coupe that each instrument had a slightly different angle. Fascinating stuff…..
