Classic Car show to raise funds for Stroke Association
Classic car owners from across the east of England are invited to come and display their cars at a Classic Car show in the heart of Hunstanton on Sunday 30th September 2012. The show is part of a whole day of activities including the first ever beach run in the town, fun run and family fun day. All of the events will be raising money for Stroke Association and the Friends of the Stroke Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn.
In the UK one person has a stroke every 5 minutes and stroke is the single largest cause of adult disability. The money raised on the day will help both Stroke Association and the Friends of the Stroke Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn continue to help stroke survivors and their families in the area.
Richard Phillips, Director of Cup Classic, is issuing the invite to classic car owners and explains more, “We have space for up to 150 classic cars on the green in the centre of the town and we would love to see as many as possible. It should be a fantastic day with the whole town coming together to organise activities and raise money for the two fantastic charities.”
The classic car show will be free to car owners. However a suggested voluntary contribution can be made on the day. Three awards will be given out during the show for the Best Car in Show, Furthest Travelled On The Day, and Most Original Car.
Classic car owners who want to come along to the event need to pre-register for your display passes by emailing carshow@cupclassic.co.uk, or calling Richard Phillips on 07768 877781
The event in Hunstanton is part of Let’s Get Active 2012, which is showcasing the range of sporting activities on offer in the borough and is working to encourage residents to make regular activity part of their lifestyles in 2012 and beyond.

Notes to Editor
• A stroke is a brain attack, which happens when the blood supply to the brain is disrupted, caused by a clot or bleeding in the brain. It is the leading cause of severe adult disability in the UK. In the East of England around 11,600 people have a stroke every year and over 100,000 people live with the effects of stroke.
• Stroke Association is a charity. We believe in life after stroke and we’re leading a community of people to change the world for people affected by stroke. We work directly with stroke survivors and their families and carers, with health and social care professionals and with scientists and researchers. We campaign to improve stroke care and support people to make the best recovery they can. We fund research to develop new treatments and ways of preventing stroke. The Stroke Helpline (0303 303 3100) provides information and support on stroke. More information can be found at http://www.stroke.org.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
