Designed by Eric Neale, the 'Interceptor' model name suggested by David Strathcarron (he should have asked for royalties!), the 'Early' Interceptor is certainly fascinating.

I have often wondered how much the SV-8 styling owed to the early Interceptor - check out that down turned grill and the small triangular intakes/indicators alongside it. Was the 50's car a direct influence, or did it just influence the 60's CV8 which in turn influenced the 2000's SV-8? See the progression below:

By the way on the last photo my Tangerine Healey sits next to the Interceptor. At this German meeting I first laid eyes on the early Int. and fell in love.... A few years later I found mine in the US and shipped it to Holland for a full restoration for which I did never find the time unfortunately
