Re: 1934 Jensen Wolseley Hornet Special
What an absolutely lovely piece of early Jensen history! You will not get better. Seems to have been beautifully restored. And priced extremely fairly. H Ken Crawford campaigned the later S-Type Tourers in 1937 & 1938 as well. Several historic photos of Crawford in JW 4063.
If I hadn’t just bought another Jensen (that needs work) I would be sorely tempted by this Hornet (though might have to go on a diet first).

Are the rear lights period?
They look like TR.
Is the car already sold?

What a great car! I hope it finds a sympathetic new owner who will put up with the myriad of imperfections.
The rear wings have the same modification as many pre-war Jensens - if they get damaged at the end, just hack-saw it off short!

It was and is a trials car. Ken Crawford gave it rough treatment in the muddy / rocky trials pre-war and it would receive just the same treatment today in VSCC and similar club events. Not a car to be precious about, one for enormous fun.

Re: 1934 Jensen Wolseley Hornet Special
Many pre war cars had only one rear light and trafficators (or hand signals) for indicators. Almost every used (in the sense that it is driven on the road rather than second hand!) pre war car that you see on the road, has rear lights and some sort of indicator arrangement that is unlikely to be original. The TR (also early split screen Morris minor) rear light cluster is a popular choice for such modifications.
When the UK lighting rules were changed (circa 1956) to require a minimum lighting set, two symmetrical rear tail lights and two rear reflectors became compulsory regardless of the vehicle’s age or historical importance - these are rarely “original”.
The rubber diving helmet lights fitted to many 1920s Bentleys are also not original, but we see them on so many cars, we assume that they are period correct.
I fully concur with David Davies regarding this car - it is for driving and having fun, I just wish I had a bit more garage space!
