Post by Clive Bishop »

So another year and thought I might ask the old Wessex area again and see or if there is just tumble weed :) :)

Anyone going to the AGM in August?

1973 Jensen Healey Mk 1 11362 - Magenta - Owned by Lindsey
1972 Jensen Healey Mk 1 10343 - Sadly too far gone and so now a donor car

Clive,

I sent the following shown below to the General Secretary this week. I fully intend being at the forthcoming AGM

Member 8822

I wish to submit the following questions to the Committee for consideration and response at the forthcoming Jensen Owners’ Club Annual General Meeting.

I would wish that the responses are recorded in detail in the minutes of the AGM and not merely referred to as was the case regarding questions submitted at the previous AGM and referred to in the minutes included in the latest JOC magazine Issue No.295.

It is also my intention, in pursuance of transparency, that I will submit a copy of these questions on the JOC Forum.

Question No.1

What is the committee’s vision for the Club in the next 24 months to promote the marque?

Question No.2

The significant reduction in membership income, as shown in the accounts provided in Magazine Issue No.295, is a concern.

Whilst this may be explained away as a post-Covid occurrence, does it not infer an insight into the way that membership views the stewardship of the Club post 2022, taking into account that the published membership subscription totals were broadly consistent between 2019 and 2022?

Question No.3

The Club has been instrumental in the organisation of two significant gatherings this year. One that has occurred and on that is about to. I refer to the tri-partite gathering at Titisee in Germany and the upcoming 70th Anniversary of the Jensen 541 this month (July).

These significant events do not appear to have received any form of coverage in any of the classic car press that I have seen so far.

I believe this is a significant oversight in promoting the marque, which I believe, is a key objective of the Club.

The Club has, or used to have, excellent contacts in the classic car publishing world and I do not believe these are being utilised in a promotional manner.

Having a Jensen is NOT a lifestyle but an expression of commitment to British engineering excellence within an encompassing supportive social circle.

I look forward to the Committee’s views and responses on the above.
