Apparently an SP

Post by SMaley »

This is apparently an SP. I’ll try to find out more. Originally from Canada.

Hi Sean

If this is an original LHD SP then a very rare car as only 13 left hand drive SP's
Most of these went to Europe

Let me know if you are able to confirm the Chassis No

Can’t be many of the 13 in LHD ordered with a ‘deleted’ vinyl roof ?

Maybe it has a aftermarket six pack fitted but not a Jensen SP?

Perhaps easier (and cheaper) to remove a vinyl roof during a repaint than installing an aftermarket six-pack… but all options are in play!

It would be good to know what it really is!

That is not an SP. It has bumper fillers and the J emblem in the back. It is a newer car. :)

I have seen many cars with the J badges added especially G series cars. I think badges were a big thing in the 70s, so many owners may have added them.
It was and still is a thing to make your car look like its a newer model than it actually is as well.

Late US model ( see number plate lights, only fittet to 2211 chassis prefix and convertible ) Engine mounts are lower on SP because the tall intake and carbs, would be very interesting to see the engine bay.
I own some of the odd Jensen 8)

I doubt it. It has all of the later stuff like the license plate lights, the J emblem and the bumper fillers. That is most likely a 1973 or 74. Looks like there is no left side door or front fender.:)

I was thinking that too - looks as though the door skin and front wing are missing?

Yes, that's the very rare "extra driver cooling" special model.

I think the very tricky answer is it’s being restored.

Hi Vin number for this car is 22111396. Does that help and does that identify it as an SP left hand drive or ordinary Interceptor. Many thanks.
