Frank has been painstakingly restoring the car (and still continues to do so) over the course of about three years.

The vast majority of its restoration was during the last few years of his military service with 9 Parachute Squadron, based in Suffolk.

The car itself was made out of two, rescued from a car dealership in Wigan. One was a rolling chassis with very minimal rust and the second car was completely rotten but had everything with it (trim, panels, hardtop, seats etc). The only thing missing was an engine.

A Rover 3.5l V8 with LT77 5-Speed Gearbox was acquired from a sheep farm in Bala and the rest was making it fit.

So far, it’s been all up and down the country on weekends and drives away, to Le Mans Classic and a number of separate trips to Northern France and Normandy. The most recent trip was a 2,400 mile road trip to South Germany and around the Black Forest. The car has clocked up over 20,000 miles in the three years it’s been on the road.

Oh and he forgot to mention, it’s his only car and his daily driver!

If you’d like to know more, come and chat to him at the show, or if you’d like to see some videos on it, his YouTube channel is “Budget Home Classics” see https://www.youtube.com/@budgethomeclassics
