Re: Int R on Collecting Cars auction site
Considering the price they may want for it, remains a bit dirty for sale - engine bay, carpets and I note the bubbling on the exterior paintwork.
Still a nice one to have as a extra to the Jensen fleet I guess

Re: Int R on Collecting Cars auction site
It will be very interesting to see what price this might sell for, noting the obvious paint issue and also noting that Zac Marshall's old FF failed to sell, only achieving around £60K in bids.
This "R" has only covered nearly 12,000 miles in ten years, so the bubbling is somewhat surprising / alarming but, I do quite like the idea of adding such a car to the stable. (No, I don't think I'm buying!)

Looks like it sold Peter.
I wonder what it was ‘new’ a decade ago?

I'm fairly certain they were around £185k 10 years again PymmieMan
They always struggled with the bodywork shapes being 100% correct untill recently, much better build quality now (new price tag of circa £250k from what I know)..I love them now, was always skeptical about the un-perfect body lines they turned out back then, they were always trying different 3rd party bodyshops around the area, but now they have their own in-house people/facilities/paint shop and are a stunning finish/shape now in my opinion anyway

Re: Int R on Collecting Cars auction site
It is a matter of opinion as to whether you appreciate the way the original swage line on the top of the front wing "fades out" on top of the front panel or the "Aston Martin" version of Grant's example. An uneasy mix of curves and angles in my mind and not helped by the bonnet bulge treatment either. The sharp swage line down the side does however show a lot of bodywork skill and effort with lead/filler.
Re: Int R on Collecting Cars auction site
Very nice reflection from the side in Grant's picture. They have done a manual Interceptor R I seem to recall?
It would be interesting to know how the original engine properly sorted by Dave Gulliver or Geoff Hauser with alloy bits would stack up against the Interceptor R. I guess that could be checked on a dyno to the nth degree. Switching to a Keith Black alloy block generally saves about 40kg so where the new engines are on weight compared to an old one with new alloy bolt on bits would be interesting too. Changing the chassis at the rear and a different engine you have the DVLA to think about if you want it historic.
That rear suspension needs some play sorting after 10,000 miles, but you don't know how hard it was driven, or how a stock rear end would have lasted.

Re: Int R on Collecting Cars auction site
I do like the way the swage line on top of the bonnet does not fade out, it seems to have more style than the original but saying that I would not change my car even if it was in bare metal and easily done.
I think I prefer originality over the improved lines.

Re: Int R on Collecting Cars auction site
That custom bonnet has a really good fit.
The original fading out line is quite difficult to reproduce. Jacek, (the Polish guy who scratch built an Interceptor body) had to build Pullmax power hammer tooling that adjusted the depth of fold based on how far along the panel you were. He could accurately put in two folds in minutes. It is interesting that traditional skills are being rediscovered in niche areas like this. T
