Tech Day August 27th

Am Samstag (27. August 2022) findet der ‘Tech Day’ in statt. Keine Angst, wir wollen keineswegs eine Veranstaltung durchführen, die höchstens für die «hardcore Schrauber» unter Euch von Interesse ist. Im Gegenteil: Ziel der Veranstaltung ist ein möglichst anschaulicher und allgemeinverständlicher Erfahrungsaustausch, der dazu dienen soll, uns ALLEN die Technik unserer Fahrzeuge etwas näher zu bringen. Dazu braucht es kein Vorwissen, wer aber über ein solches verfügt, soll es doch bitte einbringen – denn egal, wie lange man sich mit der (Jensen) Technik schon beschäftigt, man lernt wirklich nie aus!

Vorgesehen ist, dass wir u.a. einen Blick auf die verschiedenen (Voll-) Restaurationsprojekte werfen, die Euren Präsidenten davon abhalten, mit einem Jensen auf der Strasse zu sein. Vor allem aber wollen wir einige spezifische technische Aspekte etwas genauer anzuschauen, die eigentlich für alle Jensen-FahrerInnen von Belang sein müssten. Wir denken hier an Themen wie Bremsen, Fahrwerk oder Zündung. Auch hier gilt: Falls Ihr weitere Themen im Kopf habt, lasst uns das bitte wissen. Was wir am 27.8. nicht besprechen können, ist potentieller Inhalt eines allfälligen nächsten Tech Days!
Zeit: 10.00h bis 14.00h (mit Pause um die Mittagszeit und Snack)

Thanks for organising this Felix and especially for inviting the JOC membership! It was a very enjoyable day, perfect weather, lots of parking, with the absolutely stunning mountains around the historic town of Glarus, where you can still vote with your sword in local elections if you have one, the mountains right in front of you as you drive in, no forgetting you are in Switzerland.

Technically it was amazing, not just the presentations, but the topics of discussion that followed. Where else do you get to see bare CV8 and 541 chassis hanging at eye level to inspect and compare. We discussed amongst ourselves the rusted and repaired sections on the chassis. For me seeing the FF that was on the production line immediately before our rusty project, bits of metal I was having to imagine were there in front of me, cleaned and freshly primed, original welds for all to see that really was fantastic. There are several variations on the Maxaret Bleed Valve. Being able to photograph one off the next car on the production line to ours was amazing, given that was the only FF driveline part we were missing.

The choice of day could not have been better weather wise, and the following day was the British Car Meeting, over 1000 British classics turned up, was in the neighboring villiage of Mollis, so we went there the following morning.

There are several variations on the Maxaret Bleed Valve.

What a wonderful sentence; it sets my train-spotter senses tingling. I can genuinely think of few things I'd enjoy more than being surrounded by like-minded friends and learning about the differences between the valves.
My wife thinks I'm weird, but we enthusiasts know, don't we?
