Jensen Owners' Club Website/Forum - Change is coming

Post by RajM »

My Fellow JOC Members,

Further to the announcement that appeared in the club magazine issue number 273 Sept/Oct 2020, we will from Thursday, 15th October 2020 at 17:00 (UK Time) be taking our existing website off-line including the forum and our shop. This is needed for the transition from our current web-site to our new web-site. During the transition, you will NOT be able to browse the website, log onto the forum or shop using your username and password as your accounts will be temporally suspended.

Following the transition, you will receive an automatic e-mail from it@joc.org.uk* with the subject heading “Welcome to the Jensen Owners’ Club” – if you do not receive this e-mail within 4 days (please check your junk box) of the new website going live on 19 October 2020 please contact me so that I can check your account status. *this address will depend on what you have save it as, My full name is Rajmattie Mangroo, it may show up as JOC_IT Support or RMangroo_JOC_IT Support or Zachary Marshall (the JOC Previous IT Officer). If you do not already have this address in your inbox, please add me so that I am not kicked in to your spam / junk box.

If login has failed, I will need from you:
• Your forum username
• Your e-mail address (the one you signed up with for the forum)

If you are not a forum user but have an active paid membership, than please supply me with:
• Your full name
• Your e-mail address
• Your membership ID

A few new features to look out for:

My Account
• The “My Account” area will show your membership details if you are an active paid member to the club. It will show your membership type (UK, EU or Rest of World) and importantly the date your membership will expire.
• You will be able to see products you have purchased from the shop including the status of an order if you had used the same username, if not any order moving forward will be listed from the 19th October 2020.
• Ability to re-set your own password, change your e-mail address and postal address if you so wish.

Contact page
• A simple form to assist you with contacting the right person on the committee, model registrars, and as well as the President of the club.

Magazine location
• Faster link to our club magazine. Please note this is a members only area. So, if you are logged in and a paid active member you will have automatic access. However, if you are not you will not be unable to view/download the magazine. If you have been granted a special membership status you will have access to this area.

Forum
• The forum will sit on the same URL as the JOC Website. This means that you will not need to save the link (unless you want to) to access it. The whole forum and website has been integrated to keep you updated with all that is JOC.
o The Forum has not changes significantly. We will continue to use phpBB software as it has worked for many years and after many weeks of testing it was clear there was no point in re-inventing the wheel.
o We have added a few new features and due to the upgrade from version 3.0 to 3.3.1 some features have been omitted. We will continue to work to add these features back if we can but for now the option to change your colour or layout has been removed. A quick link option has been added. Here you will find the updated Forum Rules, Magazine link (subscribed members only) and updated user guide. There is also an option now to minimise the forum pages that you don’t view regularly to save you space when viewing via a mobile device.

Website
• There is still much more room for improvements and over the next coming months we will update and improve various sections. So keep an eye out for new events, new videos and models information update.

For now, many thanks to all involved and to those who will continue to be involved in the background. Keep a look out for you welcome email!

With Kind Regards,

Raj
