Selling my Interceptor Convertible (France)

Post by MMBS47 »

Hi Guys,

Reluctantly selling my Jensen in France.

https://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/1854187207.htm/

Any suggestions about refining the ad or any suggested corrections, appreciated :)

I read somewhere only 456 were ever made, but when I googled for that, I get conflicting numbers..

Regards,
Mike

The best estimate is 512 convertibles. 509 are known with 3 probables. 80% are LHD.

Latest estimates are between two thirds and three quarters of convertibles have survived.

Very nice looking car. I remember it from the auction a few years ago. Not sure your photographs show it at it's best but I hope interest in Convertibles picks up soon in the same way that FF,s, SP,s and early Mk1's have. Good luck.

Lovely car especially with the S4 dash. Wonder how much it’ll cost to convert to rhd.

Thanks Guys...

I have changed the Ad as my French via Bing Translator wasn't too good - Tanguy Lauzin JOC France corrected it for me.

https://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/1856366643.htm/

Some issues I still have with the car are
Trying to put the soft top cover on is next to impossible. Takes two of us pushing it down and even then we can't connect all the press studs.
The two small rear windows do not descend - I have not had that looked at yet.
The plastic rear view window is very "speckled/pitted" - Tried cleaning it, but maybe it needs replacing.

Other than that, Thanks to JOC UK advise, the car starts first, if not second turn of the key, both hot and cold.

I have more photos on dropbox if anybody is interested.

Forgive me if I am wrong but it doesn't look as though you have a Jensen original hood cover so that may be why it doesn't fit too well? Have a look at this one below:

Your material does not appear to be thick leather...more a vinyl (?), the seams look different and the zips look too long. No wonder it might not fit too well? Your quarter window issue may just be that the hood down limit switch is not being triggered with the roof down...again assuming that the rear window has been zipped out, folded and laid flat the roof still normally sits quite high on all cars. Factor in a replacement hood which most cars have had by now with different levels of padding and materials and this will just compound the problem.

Hi Mike,

are you going to advertise on either of the following

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/23/convertible/
https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/jensen/interceptor

possibly the best for International sales of Jensens

Also, are you okay to share the chassis no. Interested to know if this is an original US car or European

Otherwise, photos show you are in the correct price bracket

There were originally 456 Convertibles - 355 USA, 5 Europe and 91 RHD with 5 prototypes

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the info about how many were made... when I googled for it, I kept getting different numbers. The VIN number is 23111554... I will look to place an ad on Car and Classic as you suggest :)

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the info on the soft top, and you are quite correct, my soft top and cover are both a heavy vinyl - I will start a new thread in the Interceptor Tech and ask more questions of you there if that is ok?
