From Wiki, citing auto motor und sport:

Der Stutz bewegt sich durch den dichten Stadtverkehr wie ein alter Starrachsen-Pontiac, dessen Kofferraum zur Komfortverbesserung mit Beton ausgegossen wurde: weich wie Lenor-Wäsche, schaukelnd wie ein Karussellpferd, agil wie ein Öltanker.

The Stutz moves through the dense city traffic like an old rigid axled Pontiac, the trunk of which was filled with concrete to improve comfort: soft like Lenor laundry, rocking like a carousel horse, agile like an oil tanker.

What a great description!

Only the Germans could come up with such prose!

These Stutz cars were built from Pontiac Grand Prix's. Many were celebrity owned. Elvis had one. :)

That is gorgeous, the front reminds me of the first series Toyota Celica, perhaps that's where they got some styling cues

Looks like a Lanchester 14. Never previously seen a convertible, though, and to be honest I think I was happier that way.

Steady on James, that’s someone’s baby!
It’s a tale of marque identity syndrome. At the time Daimler and Lanchester were essentially the same company. The chap driving it was a Lanchester man who wanted a Lanchester version of the Daimler Conquest Century New Drophead Coupe. (What a moniker!)

This one.
He didn’t let the fact that one was never made get in his way so he made his own.
I love that sort of eccentricity.
