Isle of Man Festival of Motoring and Dutch Autumn Weekend

Post by Richard_2 »

I and my son have decided to take our 2 cars to the Isle of Man for the Festival of Motoring, which takes place between 17th and 21st September 2020 and combine it with the Dutch HGH Autumn Weekend. It would be good to have a few other Jensens join us on the Isle of Man. Details of the Festival of Motoring are on their website, http://www.iomfm.com/.

There is a lot of interest in this and rooms are going fast, so if you do want to book it would be better not to delay.

Below I give a summary of our itinerary and the Festival of Motoring events.

Thursday – Start of Festival of Motoring Steam Packet Company Ferry crossing from Mainland (Liverpool or Heysham) to Douglas on the Isle of Man. After arrival in the IOM transfer to your Hotel. After check-in and some free
time to freshen up we’ve arranged a welcome dinner (*14h15 sailing only) at the hotel, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet your fellow travellers.

Friday, you will enjoy the freedom of the Famous Sloc Mountain Road, the location of the island’s famous hill climb. Then it’s on to Jurby where you can visit the amazing Isle of Man Motor Museum and enjoy an optional track session on the Jurby Airfield circuit - 2 x 20 minute sessions, cost £40 per car (disclaimer applies - see website for full details). The evening is at leisure.

Saturday, you’ll enjoy the day in Douglas where you will join other Festival participants and local Manx Car clubs for a Static Seafront display, with free time to visit the IOM Food & Drink Festival in the Villa Marina Gardens. In the evening there will be an optional IOM Festival of Motoring Gala Dinner at the Ramsey Park Hotel in Ramsey, featuring a 3 course meal, live entertainment and dancing. There will be complimentary transfers from participant hotels.

Sunday is ‘TT’ day and after congregating at the ‘TT Grandstand’ (where you’ll enjoy some free time for a photo shoot) you’ll set off on an escorted cavalcade around the ‘TT Circuit’ from Douglas to Ramsey. After a coffee stop in Ramsey, you’ll experience a thrilling drive on the Mountain Road culminating at the famous Creg-Ny-Baa for lunch or a cream tea. Then the afternoon is at leisure in Laxey where you can visit the Laxey Wheel and take a ride on the tram to the top of Snafell.
