Never seen befor in Germany, guess ypu will only find a handfull on the roads in Europe today

Now here's a mystery wrapped up in an enigma.

This car was unknown to me until yesterday. Like me, you might think you are clever enough to recognise this extremely rare car, which could have been a contender but ended up a "might-have-been". However, a weird twist turns this particular one from rare into unique.

Also, it is not a copy of an MX5 as it originally predated it by many years.

Stevens Cipher.
Never driven one, reputedly very good, would like to give one a go.
Is that the Lada one?

Yes, the enigma was the Stephens Cipher, designed in the 1970s amazingly, first displayed in 1980 and with mechanicals from the Reliant Kitten (whose engine was closely related to that of the Austin 7).
When that scheme failed to materialised, he entered into a deal with the Russian (hence Red...) Lada company. The result was the mystery car, a Lada powered Cipher that came tantalisingly close to production in Lithuania, but Glasnost changed everything and the deal fell through.
This single surviving Lada Cipher was completely unknown to me.
