I‘ve been to so many places in England but never on the Isle of Wight.

After the Goodwood Revival I am planning a few days there.

Any suggestions (accomodation, restaurants, beaches, sightseeing, No-Gos, ...) are more than welcome.

You should check out Osbourne House, home of Queen Victoria designed by Prince Albert..

I went there to look at a Mk1 Interceptor back in 2004. The island itself was not very special (to me), you will be welcomed by typical UK old-glory cheap seaside "fun" buildings.
If it is still in service, take the opportunity to use the (non-car) passenger Hoovercraft!

Great pictures Dion. Yes the island is that good , I dont like to boast though  . I would love to see a lot more Googie style architecture everywhere though, just to view the world of tomorrow from yesteryear :D

So you suggest rather not going there?

Jens, I can give you ideas for dozens of places to visit.

Best to avoid the the seafronts as they are very tacky.

Osborne house, Carisbooke Castle, Freshwater bay and the Nuclear missile test site, Appledurcombe house, Zig Zag road from the bottom (3 in 1 navigable road).

Word of warning, the car ferry is very expensive and it is best to book for both journeys or you could sit there for many hours.

It is like going back 30 years ans many of the cars over there in regular use are classics.

I was anything but impressed by that island but maybe I was at the wrong places.
112-2371 was my first one, others followed

I'm digging a tunnel but it keeps filling with water.
But why do I need to escape when I am having a full English breakfast in a little B&B with my lovely wife?

I think you will enjoy the IOW if you don't have wild expectations. It is a pleasant quiet place, not stunning. Don't visit the Needles if it is still the same as 15 years ago (a cheap funfair), do go to Osborne house, go on long walks on Tennyson Down. There is a steam railway at Havenstreet.
