1958 Jensen Tempo - Tempo Matador 1
Re: 1958 Jensen Tempo - Tempo Matador 1
I imagine Tempo sold direct to the US and Australia, and the whole range at that time were fitted with Austin engines 998cc and 1500cc

Re: 1958 Jensen Tempo - Tempo Matador 1
I had thought Jensen had engineered the BMC conversion, but if they were all supplied that way there was presumably not much for them to do except sell them?

I am no expert, my understanding is that Jensen were approached by Tempo to sell there product in the UK. Jensen put there stamp on the Tempo. Exactly what they did will become clear once the two remaining vehicles are examined. Now I have a genuine Tempo in my possession they car be compared side by side.

Hi Owen, did you drag the remains of the Jensen Tempo's out of the bramble bush yet? If so, please post some photos, I am so curious to see them....owen wrote:I am no expert, my understanding is that Jensen were approached by Tempo to sell there product in the UK. Re: 1958 Jensen Tempo - Tempo Matador 1
I have just caught up with this thread.
I wish I could be more helpful on the subject of what work Jensen did to the Tembo commercial vehicles other than selling them.
What I can tell you is that I made some production drawings for this vehicle when I worked in the Carters Green body drawing office.
This would be around 1960. The item that comes to mind is a seat frame, probably for the 12 seater Mini Bus.
So, on this evidence alone Jensen did make a small(?) contibution to the construction of the Tempos sold in the U.K.
Regards,
Nick

We're sitting on the edge of our seats... Did it all happen as planned?
