FF on ebay

Post by cannonball »

Has the FF fad been and gone only 75k and no bids, looks a decent car, considering there are only two other FF,s on sale and they are in the 150k realm makes this very cheap,

Interestingly there is what looks to be an Interceptor in the garage in the background of one of the ebay pictures with what might be the 6 DNX number plate referred to in the description.

We can't see the first digit but as at today 6 DNX is registered to a 1965 Rolls Royce, untaxed since 2012.

A couple of current pictures for comparison!

Nice car

I would imagine it has at least a 120k reserve. I would anyway!

The seller is a long time JOC member with a number of Jensens and quite possibly other classics.

I've known him for years, I think he was one of the ones that helped when my SP kept breaking down on the 2002 Fougeres Rally. I think it was 2006 when I had FF 275 at Fougeres, his car is 276 although he was there with a convertible. I must see if he is on the forum.

Fascinating pics, especially as I visited Jensen P&S around that time while on holiday. I remember the "wrecks" at the side and rear of the building very well. A pity I did not take any pictures then
When seeing one of the scans of the book my first thought was "What's doing that AMC Pacer over there?"

I sold those new old stock wings that are on the car now. They were proper West Brom Jensen factory wings I bought in the late 90s. The wings were ordered from the factory by an FF owner that never used them. When I got them they were 15 or 20 years old, fully finished and never fitted to a car. I had quite the treasure trove of FF parts back then. I sold the wings in 2004 just before moving to Switzerland. There was a good selection of original parts available back then. His previous FF restoration was a JOC concourse winner I seem to remember.
Look at those wings on that car now, see how even the reflection of the pebbles is, from the nose of the car right the way back through the door to the rear panel. Both sides are like that if you look on eBay. Look at the door gaps too. How many resto shops today can give you a car back with West Brom panels made by the original workers and fitted up and painted like that? I saw the car 2 years ago, when it had been painted, but just before the engine went back in. It was very impressive even though the paint was still new and not polished up. I think it is a good idea to paint the car and let the paint harden and settle for a year or so before the final polish if you want a top finish that will last.

The original reg PWP 646J from when it was new appears not in use so perhaps you could get that allocated. The 6 DNX number I guess was on the car when it was blue. I understand that number went onto a Rolls that he also restored and sold abroad several years ago. It was nice to catch up when I saw the car, I stopped by with a friend from Switzerland to pick up some parts for a Mk3 Interceptor I work on in Switzerland. We then went on to ReJen so it was a great Jensen Baptism for my Swiss friend.

I know he has been looking at non Jensen projects, but if you have a Jensen FF project that is not going anywhere you might be able to agree a deal. I would like to see him do another FF although he probably has other plans.

It does look a very nice car, and how far away if any from those 150k cars, yet no interest from bidders, yet that rough blue car that was at that non car specific auction house was 70k inc fees and needed restore to a degree,

Is it possible that the market in general isn‘t too good at present?
Lots of „midvealue“ cars ( from 50 to 200 k) seems to be for sale without too much interest??!
