Good article. I am amazed he criticised the dip switch as he used his left foot for braking!

With a proficient driver there is nothing wrong with left foot braking.

Yes, its a great article ! The original article has a couple of pictures in it and shows that the Interceptor they tested has the number plate TEA 700L, its in copper brown, that car has chassis no 136/8750 and is now owned by me. It lost that registration number when it had a personalised number fitted by a previous owner and is now DBY 921M, it has been resprayed brienz blue. I obtained the complete history file from the factory records. I may apply to get the original number back as it has not been re-assigned.

That's interesting; Its current 'M' registration is s registration year later than its original 'L' registration. I thought DVLA would not allow a plate to be assigned to a car that would make it appear younger than it is.Howie wrote:Yes, its a great article ! They don't Andy if you apply. They do if they assign it. My car was originally registered on an 'H' but then exported to Jersey. When I reimported it the DVLA assigned a 'J' registration (based on the date of importation to Jersey) despite evidence provided of the original UK registration and original date of UK registration. I've also seen a 1968 car that had been imported on an 'N' registration.

Yes, I have often wondered about that, the V5 clearly states the date of 1st registration as 5 July 1973-so it should be an "L" but its been given an "M". I suppose someone at DVLA slipped up.

The article is reproduced in the excellent Jensen Interceptor ultimate portfolio by Brooklands Books, with 60 odd other articles between 1966 and 1992. I highly recommend it.
