Treasure trove FF spares -Wheels, gearbox, Maxaret Solenoid

Hi all,
I've been contacted by a one time FF owner (127/255) who has some spares for sale and is based in Wiltshire.

The PO said "I have a fair amount of Ferguson Formula (ff) spares hanging around including 5 alloy wheels, 4wd gearbox extension (brand new), etc. Is there any interest/value/need for any of these items or are they effectively scrap? I enclose some pics to show you the sort of things I'm on about. These items (and more) have been stored for approx.30 years."

Photo 1 shows the gearbox, Photo 2 shows the wheels and Photo 3 shows a mixture of various parts. It looks to me that there is at least Maxaret solenoid (very rare?), windscreen wiper reservoir, fuse box cover, AC compressor. Who knows whats in the bags and boxes

What a jackpot!

I had read recently that there is an FF driving around without a Maxaret fitted.... here is one (with some spare parts for it as well)

I actually have the actual FF transfer box that goes with the centre clutch and shaft pictured, and it is missing the maxaret sender in the bottom picture as well! That xferbox has been in my profile picture for a while, box no 260. There is no torqueflite with it at the moment. I wonder if he has the remains of that somewhere? I wondered what happened to those parts, I imagined they were destroyed in some transmission failure! I also have a matching Mk3 wheel like the one pictured! Needless to say these parts came with FF 255 when I owned it around the turn of the century.

The story was that Medway bought the car without the interior as one lot at an auction, and the interior was another lot, which they acquired later I seem to recall. The missing transmission internals and that Mk3 wheel were obviously with this person, the previous owner!

Not having a complete transmission, I got Medway, who bought 255 at auction, and then united it with its interior, to supply another as part of the deal. The broken transmission then stayed in my garage for 15 years. 255 was highly modified, and I sold it on Rostyles with a complete transmission and its original engine, which was a fresh rebuild by Hauser, when I moved to Switzerland.

Hi all,
Spoke with the seller today and he would like to sell everything as one job lot to the highest bidder. He has a bit more stuff than was shown in the three photos. He plans to take some photos over the weekend (snow permitting) showing everything laid out and also detailed images of the key items. Once I have these I'll load them up for everyone to look at. The seller would like a "sealed bid" offer probably by PM to me, but I'll provide further details with the photos.

He gave me a little more information on several items:-

The transfer box was apparently purchased from Jensen in the late 80's (the last one they had) but has never been used. The seller will find out the serial number if possible. As JohnW mentioned above "centre clutch and shaft" pictured were removed from 127/255 and JohnW has the rest of the transfer box. Could they be put back together in the future?

The wheels were purchased new at the same time and have never been used on the road. After 30 years storage they are showing some minor corrosion and peeling of the lacquer. The tyres were also brand new (in the late 80's) and unused but obviously well past there sell by date.

Wow, there's some nice bits and pieces there Phil. I think you're doing the right thing asking for sealed bids. What timescale for bids are you considering?
