The evening before the Press Day I was on my own on the stand waiting for Edgar etc to return from his stand, when I saw a group of three dark-suited men standing by the stand and looking very unhappy. I approached and found myself talking to members of the show organising committee. The reason why they were unhappy, they told me, was that the white fencing did not match the image of the Geneva Show, In fact, they said, the stand looked like somewhere one would keep cows in. "Ah", said I, "You have misread our intentions, this stand is designed to keep the cows out!". They left without further words!

When I met Scherer at Edgar's funeral the first thing he said was: here is the man who told the Geneva Show about our stand design in 1972!

:D It‘s interesting to see how the stands got more elaborate over time. And the lightly clad women stretched over the cars, which I guess began to appear in the 60s- not Jensen though?

The JAK cartoon appeared during one Earls court show at which Lamborghini had a topless model on their stand on Press Day, probably in 1969. Carl Duerr was convinced the bespectacled exec on the Jensen was meant to be him, so Gethin Bradley was directed to buy the original from JAK which he did, for the princely sum of £15 if I remember correctly. I inherited it at some stage and eventually gave it to Ian Orford. I do not know who has it now.

It certainly was. The biggest promo disturbance at Earls Court that I ever saw was when BMW launched a full Bavarian Oompah band into the show on one Press Day, who proceeded to tour the ground floor before settling down on the BMW stand. The organisers were furious but completely outfaced, not being able to make themselves heard above the splendid music from the band!

Thank you, Richard. Ulric was asking about JM/EXP/107. But I could not find a picture of the car on the stand. Is it possible that it was used there as a car to be test driven? Interesting that Abarth had a stand right next to Jensen. I wonder if that was Edgar Schwyn‘s stand? How many C-V8s did Peter Monteverdi manage to sell- one? He supposedly claimed that he was responsible for the design of the Interceptor, and I imagine that he did convey his opinion to Jensen on the styling of the C-V8 (which is of course, in retrospect, fantastic :D ). Could it be that the '64 stand at the Salon was a turning point for Jensen, that it maybe initiated the design of the Mk3 or even P66? 1965 they were not present, I do not think.

JM/EXP/107 is alive and well and lives a few miles from

me on Dartmoor.

Will ask the owner if they have any photos on file.

This somewhat controversial (colourwise) Interceptor (125/5432, ex factory 8.71) was, if I remember correctly, a Geneva Salon car, possibly a car there to be test driven- according to the recollections of the owner, who's had the car since new. The colour (originally reef blue, according to the Chassis Book), was specified by Edgar Schwyn. It is according to our records the last LHD Mk2. The owner was not a big fan of the colour. The wheels he said was a factory option, but to me they look more like Schwyn. No records from Richard that this car was on display in 1972, so I don‘t know.

At that time the owner more or less bought a new car every year, usually Jags. His father would usually frown upon the new purchases, saying that they were a waste of money. The Interceptor on the other hand, met approval- finally a sensible purchase.

160/2006 was at Geneva with coupe (as you said 434) & conv.
The phot's I have are prints, I'll ask a grown up how to upload.
The car was swizz JO for years & spent half its time there, probably why it went back to have a load of rust work delt with when not even 10 years old!!!

The Jensen-Healey named stand- this might have something to do with the worry of what was happening with Col.Carl Duerr at time- it was a real worry for the board.
