New years day events

Post by Steve Payne »

I like to get out and do a classic car event on new years day if the weather is OK.

Will anybody else be out and about?

Last year I did Stoney Stratford but the torrential rainstorm at mid day spoilt that one. It is a great event but you need to be there very early as there is not enough parking.

I think I might do Brooklands this year if it stays dry as they have opened the new hanger and there is usually a good turnout of cars.

What are other peoples plans?

Both myself and dad are planning to do Brooklands as the weather forecast looks reasonable.

I would love to do Brooklands as it’s a great venue however I had to get my house scaffolded due to a roof problem and they stupidly placed a scaffold pole right in front of the garage door so the Jensen’s trapped!

There was plenty of parking last year Steve now the hangar has been moved and the Finishing Straight opened, also post '89 cars will be in The Heights car park.

That was disappointing, we got there at 10.30 this morning and were turned away as there was no more space.

There must have been a lot of disappointed classic car owners as there were still dozens of cars headed towards Brooklands.

We visited an event near Reading and came home.

And a few more. There were at least 2 other Interceptors including Richards SP but I did not get a photo as it was surrounded by people while I was there.

Brooklands must've broken their own attendance record today, it was absolutely mobbed everywhere on site.

Nice to see some Jensens out and about as well, I spotted three Healeys, four Intereptors and one SP.

Ballyvaughan Old Boys club, about two dozen cars (plenty of space  ).

Trip home down the wild Atlantic way and a stop in Doolin, someone was having a laugh with my TR:
