The London Classic Car Show 2019
I received our invitation to book a stand for the LCCS at London Excel today so to give you all plenty of notice here are the details:
14th - 17th February 2019
Cars to be displayed:
541
C-V8
Interceptor
SP
Healey
Thursday, as usual, is a late afternoon to evening affair, the other days are regular morning and afternoon days (Thursday is a sort of VIP day for the dealers to smooch their clients, though anyone can visit, it just costs more to get in, a lot more, but it is quieter).
I won't have the usual discount code to book a ticket for some time yet, not until the JOC entry is confirmed, but I will post more details when I get them.

I wouldn’t mind travelling up from Devon for this one as a spectator .
Be nice to see a few different cars on the stand.

Jensen
As yet there is no discount for single tickets (last year i was able to persuade the organisers to allow the discount on single ticket purchases, but that's been forgotten about this year).
I'm still booking cars for the show but so far we have:
SP = Tim Clark (still the best SP out there and one in the bag, try organising one of these shows, it's not easy)
C-V8 = Ian Northeast, fresh from Bonneville, with an updated display and even fake salt
Healey = Graeme Brook, not a car I have seen but looks fab in the photos (and a JOC member with a 3 digit membership number, nice to have a JOC veteran at the show).
541 = my first choice dropped out, but I have two possibilities, more when I know.
That means I am still looking for a fifth car, could be Interceptor, FF, S-V8, something early...if you're interested let me know!
Regards
John

Didn’t Tim put a car up last year - time to give someone else a go if they want?

Not sure about humble. Late, yes (on Thursday- upside was that Andy may have missed the first course, a somewhat strange grated cheese „salad“ in Mulhouse). Stunning car, I agree. Just to be safe- with the restoration completed not long ago and on it‘s first big trip- Andy joined our Roadside Assistance Team (the Landrover and Martin in the E-Type) from Mulhouse to Morges and up into the Alps. But from what I heard Toby performed very well.Humble

A fabulous trip with memories that will stay with me for a long time. The only issue with the car being a brand new thermostat housing springing a leak, this delay apparently saved me from that interesting first coursefelixkk wrote:Not sure about humble. Oh, and trying to make the Healey a good car but I keep buying old British motorbikes to take my mind off it.

A nice car indeed , but restorations have moved up a notch.shiraz kid wrote:Didn’t Tim put a car up last year - time to give someone else a go if they want?
Be great to see what the capital city thought ofPaul Toothills SP.
I know when Clive Bishop does the Bristol Show he tries to not
duplicate cars so always giving the public something fresh to see.

Thanks John and Duncan for your compliments on the SP they are very much appreciated, Dave did a fantastic job and I agree, yes, it’s got to be the best out there.
Yes you’re right John, things have moved on with restorations and nut and bolt rebuilds. Owners need peace of mind and reliability and with upgrades coming onto the market it’s the only way forward. The SP is the perfect example of what can be achieved by using brake upgrades, Aluminum radiator, upgraded fans and aluminium Manifold - these are what stop the cars doing what they do best - overheating etc ! We’ve spent the last 2 yrs bringing the SP back to life by carrying out the above and doing a different take on the car to try to bring the younger generation in to appreciate what can be done with these cars. It certainly worked judging by the attention the car received at the NEC. I know it’s not easy but the Jensen organisers who put on these stands at the shows do need to think out of the box if we are going to keep the interest in our cars, they must dig deep and make a few phone calls and you will be surprised how many cars will come to life when offered the opportunity. It was the same when myself and Dave Pearce took over the North West region. The numbers were down to 3 people turning up at the monthly meet, we turned things around in three to four months by contacting Jensen owners and invited them to a barbecue where the turnout was around 40 and it was great to meet up with different people and their cars.
