Interceptor Wanted
Interceptor Wanted
Greetings.
I'm a recent joiner of the JOC and am looking for an Interceptor to own and enjoy.
I have an open mind on which Mark, but the important thing for me is to buy a structurally sound car, so no project cars. I can cope with mechanicals.
I've done a little bedtime reading on the pros and cons of each model and have a good idea of the cars that are currently for sale on the internet.
Any info on cars available would be appreciated, thanks.
I'm based in Norfolk and the V12 E Type that I currently have is concerned about its future with me

Re: Interceptor Wanted
Welcome to the JOC Marcus.
It sounds like you have already done some homework regarding these cars.
There are a few specialists you could ring to sound out cars for cars in the market place. Google search for Richard Appleyards (talk to Andy) Rejen (talk to Jason) Cropredy Bridge.
In my opinion there are some very nice cars out there at the moment waiting for new owners, it all depends on your budget.
Go drive a few.
Good luck with your search

Love a E Type. Tell me more
Re: Interceptor Wanted
Appreciate the leads from folks.
Eddie.
Thanks for the contacts. I've done the rounds as it were and checked these guys out already. All very reputable Jensen specialists, having chatted to them. Yes there are some nice cars out there and it all depends on what one's budget is I suppose.
Anton.
I will certainly be getting some more details from Andy about your car. Thank you.
Having done some classic car restoration in the past.... a 1948 Triumph Roadster, including completely fabricating a new Ash wood frame, bare metal respray and new leather upholstery etc etc, I can't face another restoration, or even a work in progress rolling restoration. On the other hand, a concours car is above my budget....alas.
The Interceptor, when I find one, will have to share a stable with the E Type. To be honest.....I completely love my V12, but she's not the most enjoyable drive particularly on long drives. I'm hoping that an Interceptor will be a more usable classic that will also be more appealing to the Memsahib indoors
Just a question. With my V12, which is a 2+2, I get a fair amount of exhaust fumes coming into the cabin with the windows open. I've heard this can occur with Interceptors. Anybody experience this issue?
Thanks again.
Eddie.

Re: Interceptor Wanted
Me neither, lovely sound yes, occasional engine bay smell from the side vents when stationary, but never exhaust fumes.

Re: Interceptor Wanted
I too own both a V12 E Type 2 + 2 And my 67 MK 1 Interceptor..I have owned the Jag for 37 years..Great car always puts a smile on m face just looking at it..I do not get the said fumes. However very hot in the footwell..It drives a lot better the more I use it.. But saying all that it also makes me really appreciate the Jensen..The difference is like sitting in the back of a plane and First class on a Trans Atlantic flight...The pure class the Jensen has with its effort less power gliding down the road....How the hell the Jensen is not worth 10 X the Jag is beyond me

Re: Interceptor Wanted
100%.. Brilliant Statement Andy, but.. only really if you get a good one, if you get a bad one or a later low compression one it just not quite the same...BritArms wrote:The difference is like sitting in the back of a plane and First class on a Trans Atlantic flight...The pure class the Jensen has with its effort less power gliding down the road
Also referred to as "SuperSonic Velvet" and ticks over like the sound of the "Dukes bath water dissapearing down the PlugHole"

This would be if the car is running Rich on idle Marcus.. Get the Old E-type on a rolling road and get the Air and Fuel mixture set up correctly , I know that smell you are talking about and it really is not niceMarcusH wrote:With my V12, which is a 2+2, I get a fair amount of exhaust fumes coming into the cabin with the windows open. Re: Interceptor Wanted
Maybe have to revisit the V12 tuning Grant. Good idea.
Perhaps I have a leaking exhaust in one of the sections, causing this fume problem. Certainly wouldn't help matters.
Might catch up with some of you at the NEC? Saturday for me.

Will be hanging around the Jensen stand for a bit.
Lookout for us. Gary is an elderly gentleman and I am young and good looking
