Name That Car

Not a Hai. When I googled Hai I found out what the car was though. But that would be cheating.

East German DKW. The design is prewar DKW. After the war the IFA was built in East Germany in Zwickau. I think they went on building the also 2-stroke Wartburg. In West Germany in Düsseldorf DKW built and developed the cars further to the DKW 3=6/1000 (3 cylinder 1000cc 2-stroke, more or less equivalent to 6 cylinder 2000cc 4-stroke) and the F102 with a 3 box body which was nowhere near as good looking. Already before the war DKW merged with Wanderer, Horch and Audi to become Auto Union. In the sixties it all became VW/Audi.
The 3=6/1000 were very nice, well built and elegant cars with excellent roadholding. They were raced extensively in the ´50´s, ´60´s and ´70´s and often gave the Mini Coopers and Fiat-Abarth´s a good run for their money.

Looks to me like the result of a Gordon-Keeble and Jensen Interceptor cross-breed.

Gordon Keeble is very close. It is the De Bruyne GT

The Gordon Keeble is probably one of the few cars I would swap my Interceptor for. Thank God DeBruyne never got it revived, as his version was ugly.
A few interesting facts about the Keeble, electric windows operated via 2 Freidland domestic door bell switches each side, with no relays, so taking the full motor current. They didn't last long The rear lights were from Ferrari 250 SWB so stupidly expensive now, much like the Interceptor door handles from Maserati Mexico.

The rear lights look more Ford than Ferrari.

I seem to remember the car was designed by Fluck and Law, the creators of Spitting Image which may explain the look.

That's the first rear end view I've seen of the DeBruyne, looks worse than the front, no wonder nobody bought it.
I just think the original was well proportioned, svelte and aggressive at the same time, with the interior quite similar to the the MK1 Interceptor.

Original arse end, sooooooo much nicer.

Yup, me too- without knowing too much about them. I wonder how they are to drive?

The Gordon-Keeble was one of if not the best looking UK car of its time. They were cheap for a long time but now they have become very expensive. The DeBruyne looks absolutely ghastly. How could a "designer" come up with that front and rear end?
