When you get to it, you will find a Facet pump in the boot, which is why there is the pressure valve!

Brilliant, cheers Tony, great minds etc. We haven’t started that bit yet. The old girl willbe tough and quick when we’ve finished. Hopefully the shake down should be the international.

Re: HEA4K.
Just a line following comments about the reg plates. Selling new cars in 73 -75 ,we prefered to offer our clients the better quality, reversed engraved black/silver plate. (the number plates were always charged separately on the invoice). In the south of England these were produced by Serck Radiators Ltd,a motor trade factor. The reflective white/yellow was an option at the time, but were,by many,me included,as a bit...common !

Are you sure about your dates? Reflective white/yellow number plates were mandatory after 1st January 1973, black/silver ones were no longer permitted.Michael Richardson wrote:Just a line following comments about the reg plates. Re: HEA4K.
I am not sure that black plates with white/silver letters&figures were no longer permitted after the introduction of mandatory reflective white-yellow plates with black letters/figures (presumably on new cars). At the time I was living in London and many or most cars had the reflective plates long before they became mandatory. My 1967 Spitfire had them from new AFAIAC. However the black number plates have always remained in use on many cars, mostly older ones up to the present day.

Re: HEA4K.
Not a problem both of mine are pre 73, in fact the Healey is at least 9 months older than the SP. They might have met at the factory as HEA was kept by Jensen for a year.

Re: HEA4K.
OK, to be precise Kees, black/silver were permitted to remain on cars already registered. After 1st Janurary 1973 it was mandatory to fit yellow/white reflective number plates on all cars first registered after that date. The black/silver were no longer permitted on new registrations.
It was legal to fit the new yellow/white reflective plates from 1968 onwards and it was permitted for any motorist at any time after 1968 to replace the older black/silver plates with reflective ones. Many car dealers would also take off a black/silver plate on a recent used car they were selling on their forecourt and fit a reflective plate to make the car more attractive to sell.

Re: HEA4K.
I don’t think Jensen wanted to sell the Healey, maybe that’s where it all went wrong?

Re: HEA4K.
Starting to go back together now. Note, no handbrake gaiter and the rubber gaiter around the gearstick. Gear knob mods to follow.

Re: HEA4K.
Starting on the exhaust. The plan is that it looks like the twin rear box standard system at the back, as the car had new, but with a larger bore single system tucked up under the main body. It has a larger bore header and a single box in the single section. Hopefully this should cure the issue with Cornwall’s over enthusiastic speed humps but also create a better fitting system.

The whole exhaust is, seems a shame to bolt it to the car.DPP wrote:That backbox is a piece of art Mark.
Kees, hopefully it should be there, just need to rust proof it, finish the exhaust, tune it, mot it and test drive and sort the small details.
