Interceptor 3 nearing completion

Post by chevromurphy »

Hi guys ,
Im about to finish work on my interceptor 3 after 3 and a half years .. i want to sell her , but shes is not for the faint hearted.i know many on here love originality and i can already here the cries of derision.. but i would say shes not bog standard , with a new bespoke leather interior and carpets thats, lets say , are unusual , an unusual two tone paint finish( roof and back lid is different from the rest ) , edelbrock manifold with holley double pumper, new a/c system from fenair, its plumbed to take LPG ,a rare factory fitted sunroof, not webasto, it has special cooling pump and fan setup ,which means when switching engine off, the electric pump takes over ,pumping the water round engine and through fan and radiator until it reaches 50 degrees which works great. . Anyone any suggestions ,selling privately ,or through an auction? I have no evidence for this at all, but was told some auction houses achieve good values for interceptors, where others do the total opposite ...input kindly appreciated ,thx eric

Only one point to pick up on your description - there is no such thing as a factory fitted sunroof. Jensen never fitted them. Most were fitted after leaving the factory, the odd few that were fitted before were still done by outside suppliers.

I suspect that the best auction results are for those near original, extremely good cars - perhaps well known, in a more usual (or original) colour combination.
From your description, why not test the water on here, then, if no joy, sell it privately or possibly eBay if necessary.
As Keith has indicated, photo's are a must!
Photos of the inside, outside (all sides) front, rear, interior, engine bay, any special features that you've mentioned.

As Martin has said Ebay gets a huge audience and also Auto trader. You can always set a reserve on Ebay and start the bidding low.

We will be interested to see the pictures.

Hi,
Looks very nice, but being left hand drive you are going to reduce the number of potential buyers for it. Having done all that work on it I was wondering why you are now selling it?
By the way is that the electric water pump that we can see connected to the top hose in one of the pictures? I would be very interested to know what set up you have installed for the fans and waterpump, thanks.
Good luck with selling it.

The steel sunroofs where sold buy the dealers as Jensen said it reduced the head room.
It looks like an Hollandia one.
Was the car sold from a southern dealer?
In its day it was a very expense option.
Not sure if Jensen let them fit it at the factory.
On the extras list on my car was a vinyl roof.
So not sure if the roof people did that.
Can't see the factory putting it on for the roof people to rip it off.
chevromurphy daft question do you have sun visors in your car.

Hi guys,
I have spend so much more getting the mechanics right in this car then i ever imagined ,so economics mean i cant afford this car! Thats why it has to be sold .. Yes thats the pump connected to the top hose...
its a great way to cool down the car ,i timed it today ,after switch off, the fans run for 15 minutes to reduce the temp down to 50 degrees during which the pump pumps the water through engine and radiator for 20 mins till its 40 degrees..
And yes brendan ,i have sun visors... i imported this one from nevada , therfor a rust free example !

Hi I'd suggest advertising yourself on "car and classic" website. It's free for private sellers and you can add several photos. The site doesn't seem to attract some of the jokers that can haunt eBay and there is a wide audience throughout Europe with private buyers and dealers alike.

Maybe the club could assist with a valuation once the car is completed?
