Paul,

I live a few hundred miles from Fife, but please tell us more!

For those who are unclear, Michael McEvoy was a tuning specialist who particularly favoured superchargers. He worked on several makes of car and often had them bodied by Jensen. Well known examples include Star, Wolseley Hornet and Morris Minor. They were generally much smaller than the later Jensen-made cars.

What type is this McEvoy Paul? If its a Hornet I hope its for sale as I'd love one!

Interesting. There was a Jensen bodied Steyr in one of the pre-War rallies. I'll look up the details. Dp you know if the car is a Drohead or a saloon?

I've not really researched Jensen-bodied Steyr cars and there is little about Steyr on the web, but there are photos of EA 9396 on the 1938 RAC rally. It was red, and entered alongside a white 30hp tourer and a blue 30hp saloon. A bit like a standard S type, it looked to be smaller with bolt-on wheels and not so elegant - in fct a bit ungainly. How large were these Steyr 4 and 6 cylinder engines? This car was 20hp 2 1/4 litre, so I guess that would be the 6?

ERB 560 was another Jensen-bodied Steyr described in a contemporary 1938 magazine. I don't know what body type this had as I've not yet found the article.

Neither of the above are listed by the DVLA, either as Jensen or Steyr, so unless it has been re-registered the find in Fife is probably another car.

Your background about stortage of Ford parts is interesting and I've never heard that before. I am sure all will be revealed in a couple of months when Richard Calver's new book comes out.

ERB 560 was a Steyr type 220, if that means anything to anyone!

Thanks Paul. That's exactly what EA 9396 was. Maybe it is that one, in which case it has a competition history.

There is a photo of this car in the Profile publication on pre-War Jensens.

Paul,

My sincere apologies - just noticed to my horror that I never answered this post from you.

I've never managed to post photos on here, but if you send me your e-mail address I'll send you a scan.
