GKN Alloy centre cap advice

Post by tyre tread »

Hi everyone,

I acquired a set of GKN alloys a couple of years ago and had set of stainless wheel nuts made and I'm now ready to fit the wheels to my car.

The one thing I don't have is the centre caps. From pictures I've seen it looks like there's a rubber insert and then a push in cap with a badge glued to the front of the cap.

Can anyone please advise where I can obtain the inserts and caps. I've had a look at Robeys but not sure of a part number so its difficult for me to identify the correct parts.

Many thanks for your help.

ETA, I m no longer located in the Midlands but relocated to Cardiff in case there's any local sources.

Your description is correct. I replaced mine about 25 years ago and they still look great. I do not have any glue on them though.

From left to right; an assembled wheel centre, the two parts of the centre and on the right a "cheap" replacement flat disk J badge. You can see the difference between the original domed plastic badge and the flat disk replacement.

Thank you both and particularly Chris for the pictures.

Any idea where I can get the rubber centre piece and badges please? I'd happily go with the flat ones for now - even secondhand.

You could get a set here: http://www.jensenmuseum.org/wpcproduct/ ... ntres-nos/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or contact the usual suppliers (in no particular order), Appleyards, Martin Robey or Rejen and see what they can offer to you. I think I remember hearing that Appleyards have had the original style wheel centre badge remanufactured with the correct red colouring, I think the flat ones with self adhesive paper backing are the ones that Robey's supply.
