surviving Mk1s
Re: surviving Mk1s
Just shows how much more durable the stainless steel hatch trim and chrome work are compared to the paint work.
The hatch trim and glass look really good probably not reason enough to buy it though

Re: surviving Mk1s
Because people were asking me to identify cars from registration numbers I recently constructed a cross reference spreadsheet that will allow me to find chassis numbers from either the original or the latest known registration numbers. At the same time I added location (country) and then decided to include when each page was last updated or reported. I know sad man. However this has highlighted that a few of the cars on the list that were reported to me when this exercise started (2010) still have not been confirmed; others were added when seen as ‘for sale’ many years ago but have not been reported as being sold or bought and have not therefore been updated since.
I have also had to do a major revamp of the alignment of the photos on the MK1’S ON THE LIST page.
Would owners please check the information and links and hyperlinks to their cars. After all if the information is wrong or out of date then the list becomes a meaningless exercise.
I am also still trying to work out why there are 1025 cars on the list.
OH and the list has now reached 335 as one scrapped car was reported as alive and the owner added he had 2 more that were not on the list.

Here's another one Stu. Located in Tasmania and judging by the quarter window and rear quarter panel, it looks to be an an early one.
Re: surviving Mk1s
Great photo Lawrence. Think this might be my new screensaver.
Re: surviving Mk1s
Another 2 cars surface in Austria. One being owned and under restoration and one being mention as rusty but save able. I was also advised that the car recently for sale in Spain is now in the UK.
That makes 337 on the list and 33 scrapped.

Re: surviving Mk1s
Just been emailed by someone who lives locally. I recall this as one of the early cars on the website that attracted some discussion as to the value and state of the car. It looks like the Sills have gone.
I will update the page when I stop crying.

Re: surviving Mk1s
I believe this is the car on the Lutterworth road in Walcote Leicestershire.
I used to pass this on my way to work in the early 2000s before it got completely covered with tarpaulin.
This is an unbelievable waste of a car

Are you going to mark it as a survivor then?RAP72 wrote:Just been emailed by someone who lives locally. I recall this as one of the early cars on the website that attracted some discussion as to the value and state of the car. It looks like the Sills have gone.

It also has rare options of airflow front and rear screens, as air con was not available, reclining bonnet and permanently dipped headlights.Jens wrote:It looks like one of the rare sillless (three l ?) Mk I convertibles with the removable Webasto hard top.
That steering wheel looks interesting, is it original, if so, probably the only part worth saving. Has Grant seen it, as we all know he's got a fetish for leather steering wheels.
What a waste of an early car. Is it from Turin, or very early West Brom car?
