This was my first ever trip to the International and only managed the Saturday due to a family problem. Found everyone welcoming, a real feeling of camaraderie and sheer pleasure to be there. Put a few faces to the names and received a lot of positive comments about the car.
Shame i had to leave and couldn't enter the concours event but there will always be next year.
Ranco valve decided to spring a leak but Andy Brooks came to the rescue.

Only did the Sunday due to work commitments.
Liked the venue, the fact it was only Jensens. The building looked some how in keeping with the cars.
Entered the concours with a result of 5th, which I am well pleased with due to the standard of the other cars.
Ditto comments about friendly faces.
Great to see Gary pick up a couple of bits of silverware for his Interceptor. Great car and top bloke to boot.
Duncs SP is looking superb, along with the genuine surprise of winning the show & shine has he didn't know he was even in it.
Only picture of the day was my car being judged.

Thanks to everyone for their help and support over the weekend. I know the car parking was a bit random but we were competing with other day conferences and at least there was some shade in the back car park! Thanks to Mark Rivron and Kees for help with my Jensen-Healey smoke screen and Zac for his picture of AYL in Mark's hands. 3 Mark II FF's in Cassis parked in a line - about 33% of the production was a great sight. My thanks to Suart and Gill for a really great weekend.

Anyone got pics ????????????????? i especially likes the red SP that was in the back lot carpark, looked to be a sort of survivor car or a much older restoration with now faded paint ??? anyone,,

I also would like to thank Stuart and Gill for their hard work before and during the weekend that resulted in so many satisfied customers. Particularly for accommodating my ever changing accommodation needs which ended in just one bbq ticket from a full weekend package for 2.
Because I was unable to arrive before Sunday morning I am very grateful to Helen for stepping up and organising the car parking, and to her wider family for invaluable work through the day. Others also helped on an incognito basis.
Eddie, thanks mate for my moment of pictorial fame judging. Also thanks to you, Ian and Gary for letting your judges take an essential cold lager break before judging your cars.

Kev and Eddie as you know I really wasn't expecting to place that high.
I worked a lot on my car last few weeks and everything took longer than I thought so was touch and go whether I was going to even get to Derby on the Sunday.
Thanks to Andy Brooks for getting me my HT leads so quickly, Graham at Culverland for helping with the trim and paint and too Alan Smith for the domed nuts I've been trying to find for a very long time.
Well done Duncan lovely SP you built there maybe a keeper this time.
Would be good to see some pictures of the cars lined up for the concours in a row if anyone's got any.

I am very pleased that Mark posted this picture because there is a very nice story behind it.
Saturday morning Brian and Steve looked over the car. The carburetor was badly adjusted with the idling speed too low with the result that it often cut out at traffic lights. The fans didn't work automatically and he had to remember to use his manual override switch admitting that he didn't always remember. Both of those were fixed, we found that a simple poor connection on the otter switch was the problem with the fans.
That done Steve took him out for a short drive, very little wrong with the car. A bit rough changing gear that perhaps a transmission oil and filter change and brake band adjustment would fix. It needs new tyres, the ones on it were ancient Dunlop ER70V15 SP Sports and had flat spots from where the car stands for long periods. Apart from that, tracking and a proper tune up as I recall was all that Steve could find.
Overall it was a very nicely presented and very smart original car.
Geoffrey told us that he'd spoken with many people and had been amazed at how friendly and helpful everyone had been. He came out with Vivienne and I for the afternoon run and thoroughly enjoyed his day. We stopped off at Haddon Hall for an hour which he also enjoyed. Unfortunately the events of the whole day must been very exhausting for him as he went to his room for 40 winks and woke up at 5am Sunday having completely missed the dinner and slept through the band!
He left early on Sunday morning to avoid driving during the heat of the day.
The gentleman in the picture is Geoffrey Griffiths. Unashamedly he admits to being 84. He's owned his Interceptor for over 35 years and in all that time of his ownership this was the first ever Jensen event that he'd attended. The car has done just over 49,000 original miles. He had just had a lot of work done on the engine and wasn't entirely happy that he had been fairly treated by the person who'd done it and he wanted someone to give him a general assessment of his car and Brian Raper and Steve Johnson agreed to look it over.
