Helen, you are right. We had the road to ourselves today. Mile after mile and no other vehicles. It would be a nightmare in the summer with all the sing!e track A roads.

I had only the other week looked at the Scottish option and having already done the Irish run in a modern car to do with previous work, would be up for either.

As with all of these things they are better done for motoring pleasure and accommodation costs after the summer period which for Scotland goes form June to mid September due to the Europeans coming across and the Americans "on tour".

Even joked about trailering the car up instead of the long drive from south of Bristol to even start the trip in Northern Scotland.

So either mid / late spring depending on when easier etc is or early October ?

I'm heading up to Scotland to drive the NC500 first week in August, not looking forward to the drive up, that'll be the longest drive the cars had in a while... but really looking forward to the bit up there, especially the whisky tasting

I will report back on the trip, with lots of photos.

Nearly 12 months to go until the planned JOC North Coast 500 trip.

Probably look to start off the trip on Monday 25th September 2107 from Inverness and go in a counter clockwise direction starting and finishing in Inverness.

http://www.northcoast500.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I will work on 4 nights and 5 days and the cost should be fairly reasonable. The hotels and pubs that we plan to stop in are homely and friendly although I would like to stay at one "posh" country hotel on the trip as a little treat.

We did the recce in March 2016 and had a wonderful time, the scenery was stunning as you can see from the previous images.

I have had some interest and some definates already but although spaces will be limited what I was mulling over was lets make this more of a social event and if there are any spaces left and you didn't think your Jensen was up to such a long trip lets consider taking the everyday car for members whos Jensen maybe off the road. Preference given to Jensens rather than everyday cars though. Just a thought.

We may not take our Healey but may take our everyday car and a box trailer to carry tools, spares etc. The likes of jacks, ramps, toolboxes, compressor. It may also be useful to carry any members large luggage on a daily basis. Wouldn't want to compromise the handling on such gorgeous roads.

Anyway, I'll sort the final details in the next couple of weeks after a few phone calls and post the details on the forum.

I've just got back to Cumbria after a fantastic week completing the NC500. Can highly recommend it. I called in to see Kevin on the way back and he seems to have plans well in hand. There is a fine variety of roads some open and winding and some slow and steep. I went round clockwise so next year anticlockwise will be very different, looking forward to it.

I would be interested in taking the CV8 our for a jaunt.
Let me know what you arrange. I'll try to keep October free.

I have done it this summer.
Simply great. But some of the best places have no acess for cars - so don´t forget your hikking boots, or you miss something.

Kevin - great idea - book me in. Only ask is not over the weekend 7/8 October as that clashes with the North Devon weekend organised by Pymmie. Thanks Tony
